  1. MSOE students are bright, creative, hard-working, and fun to be around. Ours is a close-knit community of about 3,000 students, faculty, and staff—large enough for significant opportunities and small enough for personal attention. MSOE is the University of choice for those seeking an inclusive community of experiential learners driven to solve today and tomorrow's complex challenges. MSOE will set the standard for preparing leaders to solve the diverse technical challenges of the 21st century. Since 1903, MSOE has been dedicated to educating the brightest and most innovative students. Such students are not satisfied with the status quo, who are determined to create new solutions to our world's most challenging problems. Sound like you? Then we would love to meet you. Join us for a campus tour to experience the MSOE difference. If you are ready to apply, get started today. It is free and takes just 10 minutes; no essay is required. Wondering how to pay for college? We will walk you through it. With our generous financial aid and scholarship options, an MSOE degree is more affordable than you might think, and it is an investment that will pay off for a lifetime. We offer nearly 20 undergraduate programs in engineering, business, nursing, math, plus minors ranging from Spanish to marketing to user experience. If you are ready for the next step in your academic journey, check out our 11 graduate programs. Whether you dream of designing and building life-saving medical equipment or starting your own company, an MSOE degree will give you the practical tools you need to launch a rewarding career. At MSOE, that combination makes it easy to enjoy every minute of downtime. And that is important because let us face it: College is about more than just studying. It is also about making memories. Maybe you will spend your weekend exploring our lively East Town neighborhood, just blocks from Lake Michigan and walking distance to Bucks games, concerts, restaurants, coffee shops, and other downtown fun. Maybe you will get involved in campus activities, from open skating at the Kern Center to a mashed potato war during St. Patrick's Week to building replicas of famous buildings out of thousands of Legos. Maybe you will find your fit in one of our 100+ student organizations — including Greek life, student government, and special interests ranging from gaming to unicycling (yes, really!). Our faculty are passionate about teaching. MSOE does not use teaching assistants, and our professors have an average of seven years of industry experience each. This allows them to bring their practical knowledge to the classroom. Small class sizes (an average of 21 students per class, 11 students per lab) keep instructors in close contact with students. MSOE is committed to making its campus and the resources accessible to all. We welcome all students, faculty, staff, and visitors with disabilities. We are dedicated to ensuring that the MSOE campus is an accessible, welcoming working and learning environment for individuals with disabilities, including compliance with federal and state regulations. Student Accessibility Services is an affiliate of the Wellness Center and is committed to making MSOE academically accessible to students with documented disabilities (physical or learning), chronic health conditions, and mental health conditions. For students seeking accessibility, Student Accessibility Services (SAS) provides reasonable accommodations by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Sections 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as well as state and local regulations. Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE) maintains its long-standing as an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and Educator. Therefore it is the policy of MSOE to provide equal employment opportunity to all individuals regardless of their race, ethnicity, color, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin, physical or mental disability, military and veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic characteristics, marital status or any other characteristic protected by local, state or federal law. This policy applies to all jobs at the University and all the terms, benefits, privileges, and employment/enrollment conditions. Employees and applicants with disabilities and disabled veterans are encouraged to inform Human Resources if they need a reasonable accommodation to perform a job they are otherwise qualified for. MSOE makes and will continue to make reasonable accommodations to the known physical or mental limitations of an otherwise qualified applicant or employee to promote the employment of qualified individuals with disabilities and disabled veterans unless such accommodations would impose an undue hardship on the operations of the University's business. MSOE also makes reasonable accommodations for sincerely held religious beliefs. At MSOE, we believe in the transformative power of the international learning experience. That is why we make sure all students, regardless of major, have the opportunity to study abroad. All of our students have the opportunity to explore the world, immerse themselves in new cultures, and study academically in a global context. We offer short-term and year-long options and work closely with students to find the best fit for their academic goals. MSOE offers opportunities to study in various locations – including Europe, Asia, and Central America – that will combine academic theory with real world practice in an intercultural context while continuing to prepare you in your course of study. Studying abroad enhances your degree and increases your marketability in the workforce. View full university
  2. The Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD) is Wisconsin's only four-year, private college of visual art and design, offering a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design, Illustration, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture + Design, and New Studio Practice: Fine Arts. We prepare students with interest and ability in the visual arts for passage into professional careers. We're not a trade school. We're a college that launches professional artists and designers on their journeys toward artistic growth and thriving creative lives. We were founded as MIAD in 1974, but formed from the Layton School of Art & Design, which began instruction in 1920. We ignite curious minds through art, design, and service. We will be a galvanized educational and creative community, addressing universal needs through our thought, design, and expression. MIAD recognizes artistic and academic achievement through a vibrant array of renewable scholarships. Based on artistic and academic merit, MIAD scholarships embrace the creative energies of our prospective student body. Students accepted for admission will automatically be considered for MIAD scholarships. Scholarship decisions will be made on a rolling basis beginning December 1. Students may be eligible for additional forms of financial Aid. MIAD encourages students and families to be aware of scholarship and grant opportunities available from non-MIAD sources. Many scholarships that do not originate with MIAD are available to students who qualify based on particular skills, community activities, ethnic or racial heritage, or other criteria. Good sources of information about these scholarships are high school guidance offices, libraries, parents' place of employment, churches, and civic organizations. Travel/study abroad programs provide students with unique opportunities to broaden their world-view, immerse themselves in another culture or environment, and positively influence their work as designers and artists. MIAD offers short-term, faculty-led travel programs for students during the summer months and over Spring Break. Past programs have included Italy, Ireland, China, Thailand, Paris, and the Desert Southwest. Programs currently range in length from 9 days to 4 weeks for 3 to 6 credits. Financial Aid is often available, as well as a select number of need-based grants. Most programs are open to students at all levels in all majors. MIAD is a member of The Alliance of Independent Colleges of Art & Design (AICAD), an association of 42 internationally recognized art and design colleges. Through this association, students may apply to spend a semester or year in a similar degree program at one of the participating member institutions. You remain registered at MIAD (thus retaining residency and student aid eligibility) and receive regular credit for the mobility program. Students interested in participating in this exchange program should contact the registrar during their sophomore year for specific requirements. MIAD's holistic academic advising program is based on a close student-advisor relationship and uses the full range of college and community resources to inform and support students. With their advisor's support, students learn to use MIAD's curricular, career, financial, and co-curricular opportunities to realize their academic, career-best, and personal goals. Talking about jobs and careers may seem premature, especially to parents of newer students. Some parents may have already thought about jobs and careers through the admissions process and consideration of their student's art/design college education at MIAD. Just by attending MIAD, students have already started their careers. MIAD is serious about the success of students, including their success as professionals after graduation. Staff in MIAD's Career Services Office does not consider any discussion of jobs and careers too early. The Office aims to help students pursue and achieve their career as designers, their lives as artists, or their success in other professions. The more students use Career Services and its resources, the better they will make realistic and satisfying decisions about their professional development and future. Students can connect with Career Services as freshmen and continue their contact with staff through their senior year. MIAD provides reasonable and appropriate accommodations for students with documented disabilities. Accommodations are determined on an individual basis through Academic Resources. MIAD's Pre-College Program is a series of weekend and summer classes devoted to developing high school students' artistic skills and preparing them for an art and design college. Classes are available for high school freshman through senior year. MIAD's Summer Pre-College is an intense, immersive, and exciting exploration of visual art and design for high school age students. Taught by MIAD faculty, this is an opportunity to create art all day, every day, and experience a college-level curriculum. It is also a chance to connect with other art students from across the country. There are two programs: The two-week Core Studio Concepts are for beginning or intermediate students interested in exploring two areas of art study: The three-week Advanced Studio Concepts are for students ready for intensive college work in one area art study. Advanced Studio students also receive three elective credits to MIAD. View full university
