BPolytechnic as one of the forms of higher education in Indonesia organized by the cooperation agreement between the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and the Swiss Confederation Government signed on December 6, 1973, by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs CPC. Adam Malik and Swiss Ambassador Mr. Dr. Max Feller. One result of this agreement is the establishment of Polytechnic Mechanical Switzerland - Institut Teknologi Bandung. The purpose of establishing the Swiss Mechanical Polytechnic is to support the development of the technology industry in Indonesia through technical education. Polytechnic education programs are implemented to improve the capability and application of industrial technology in the fields of Manufacturing of precision tooling, production machinery maintenance, and mechanical design. To implement the education program, the Swiss hold teaching materials and equipment, building workshops, and pay experts. Meanwhile, the Indonesian side college building, administrative, and other supporting facilities and provide operational funding for education. The Swiss confederation government-appointed Swisscontact (Swiss Foundation for Technical Assistance) as project manager of the Swiss. The Indonesian government entrusted Bandung Institute of Technology as an executor of the Indonesian side. The university's vision is into a leading institution in the education, the development, and the application of advanced manufacturing technology recognized in the world, and the mission is To prepare human resources who are competent in the fields of manufacturing technology and global markets by building and developing education, engineering, and production. Hexagon-shaped Symbol POLMAN consists of two terms of six pairs in harmony. The production-based education system developed at Polman Bandung is a harmonious blend of education, engineering, and production elements. Large Hexagons Symbolize the micrometer head shape, which means that the manufacturing process requires high accuracy and precision. Small hexagon head bolts symbolize the meaning of products and services produced. Polman Bandung has high conformance to the specified requirements. Perfect, reliable, trustworthy. Organization work processes, Low failure rates in all aspects, Manufacturing at a high level and skills Anticipate customers demands, Noteworthy address for education, training, and manufacturing technology production. Based on the strategic plan 2013-2017, and the external dynamic from 2012 to 2014, POLMAN Bandung has made some improvements in its management and organization. In 2015 Polman Bandung managed some programs that started in 2012. In 2015, the programs were focused on: Improving educational quality and capacity: To Improve Diploma 3 and Bachelor of applied science curriculum based on a global standard, Indonesia Qualification Framework (KKNI), and higher education national standard. To prepare curriculum and human resources for magister of applied science. To increase the student body by 10 %. To establish an internal quality assurance unit (SPMI). Improving the mastery of manufacturing technology : To conduct research and development in manufacturing engineering technology. To conduct research and development in line with MP3EI (The Masterplan for Acceleration and Expansion of Indonesians Economic Development) To increase scientific publication. To undertake patent. Improving the value of P2KR (Production, Training, Consultancy, and Engineering) To improve engineering activities. To perform cooperation in educational institution development and training. Improving accountability and transparency : To carry out BLU (Public Service Agency) preparation. To establish an internal auditor unit (SPI). The realization of these programs can hopefully be seen each year within the five-year strategic plan.
