The Generic Skills courses are directed towards students who are doing a doctorate/Ph.D. and the mid-level faculty and are free of charge for them. For external doctorate students, the courses are subject to charge. The program serves the in-depth study of interdisciplinary topics and supports young researchers during their academic careers. Some courses also prepare the students for their working life outside of the university. The Services regularly invite to a Brown Bag. At the 'Info Lunch', you will receive information on procedures and particular support. Also, projects will be introduced. The University of Lucerne offers a German language course for non-German-mother-tongue students with a Swiss university entrance qualification (Matura) to give them the language skills they need for their degree. The course is mainly aimed at students from Ticino and Romandie. Providing places are available, exchange students and other international students of the University of Lucerne with prior knowledge of German. Students can register online. Incoming exchange students without previous knowledge or little knowledge of German (levels A and B) can visit a free German language class directly before the commencement of their exchange semester. During the semester, a continued course is offered by the University of Lucerne. Additional language classes are offered for reduced fees by our various partner institutions located in Lucerne. The Faculty of Law at the University of Lucerne has been offering the promise scholarship program since the fall semester of 2011. This program, run alongside studies, supports particularly able and ambitious students and doctoral candidates.
