- Lochend Community High School, which opened in 1963 as Lochend Secondary, amalgamated with Westwood Secondary in 1988 in the former school buildings. Lochend, a six-year nondenominational school has a current roll of 530. The school has two associated primary schools and serves one of the city’s major areas of regeneration. In January 2002 the school moved into a new building that was provided through the PPP program in Glasgow. At Lochend we continue to have a clear focus not only on raising levels of attainment but increasing the life chances of young people. Our learners at all stages are achieving across subject areas and developing their skills in classrooms and the wider life of the school. We have a lively and positive ethos supporting school shows, fundraising events, and whole school house competitions. To enhance our curriculum and support our young people we work closely with partners such as John Wheatley College, FAYRE, Barnardos, REACT, Parcour, The Green Gym, Youthstart, EVIP, Right Track, and many more. We all contribute to a safe, happy, and nurturing environment and have high expectations. Our Curriculum for Excellence offers ambitious pathways towards a range of achievements and opportunities.
