Lewis Girls’ stands on a very attractive landscaped site in the heart of Ystrad Mynach. We enjoy strong links with the community and every year we attract significant numbers of students from outside the catchment area due to our high standard of facilities, and excellence in academic achievement, sports, music, drama, and the wider curriculum. Lewis Girls' is an 11-18 comprehensive school and currently has almost 900 pupils. The staff is well established and committed to the achievement of high standards and the provision of a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Staff development has a high profile and the school is continually improving. The school has an impressive record of success in academic, sporting, musical, cultural, charitable, enterprise, and social activities extending over many years. Last year over 95% of our 6th form students achieved a grade A* - C at Key Stage 5. The school is well disciplined but friendly, and the quality of staff-pupil relationships is excellent. All pupils are encouraged to give their best and expectations are high. At GCSE, 24% of our learners achieved at least 5 A*/A grades. The school is situated in Ystrad Mynach but its pupils come from a catchment area of approximately 40 square miles. Close links exist between Lewis Girls', Lewis School Pengam, and our feeder primary schools. Also, a significant number of pupils attend the school from out of the catchment area as a result of parents exercising their right of choice of school. Grounds Pitch. The Office of Mission & Identity is responsible for programs and activities that engage, celebrate, and support the University community's development and understanding of our Mission, Catholic identity, and Lasallian heritage. Lewis & Clark’s journey from pioneer vision to higher education's premier institution began in 1867, 60 miles south of present-day Portland. In that year, the Presbytery of Oregon secured a charter from the state legislature. The church partnered with Albany's town to fund and build a two-story building on the town’s College Square site, and a school was born. In 1966, almost 100 years after Albany Collegiate Institute was chartered, Lewis & Clark and the Synod of Oregon agreed to sever their formal bonds. While affirming its historical ties to the Presbyterian Church, Lewis & Clark became an independent institution with a self-perpetuating board of trustees. Prospector is a service that extends the collections of over 40 large and small, academic, public, and special libraries in Colorado and Wyoming, including Fort Lewis College. Through Prospector, Fort Lewis College students, faculty, and staff members can efficiently borrow materials from other Prospector member libraries. With a single search, you can identify and borrow materials from the collections and deliver them to Reed Library. Rapid, self-service borrowing is available to Fort Lewis College students, faculty, and staff members in good standing. The system allows you to borrow most items that already circulate at local libraries. This does not include journals, and many libraries do not provide loan videos and other audiovisual materials. All items identified as "Local Use Only" in the unified catalog cannot be requested through Prospector. Our campus in southwestern Colorado is situated at 6,872 feet, overlooking the Animas River Valley and historic downtown Durango. The campus' distinctive architectural theme utilizes locally quarried sandstone to acknowledge the region's Native Puebloan building style and evoke the Four Corners' landscape and colors. Every ten years, we are reviewed by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. This process includes self-study and peer evaluation. Our Chemistry program is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS). ACS promotes excellence in chemistry education for undergraduate students through the approval of baccalaureate chemistry programs. ACS-approved programs offer a broad-based and rigorous chemistry education that gives the students intellectual, experimental, and communication skills to become effective scientific professionals. The Association accredits our School of Business Administration to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International. Our degree programs in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, and Marketing are included in the Scope of Accreditation. AACSB International accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement for business schools worldwide. Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review. Our Music Program is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). This signifies that individuals with high levels of musical capability, expertise, and experience must take the leadership responsibility in accreditation and related areas lest a vacuum is created for non-musicians to fill. It signifies a pledge to continue what NASM has always done: seek the optimum learning conditions for music students and develop the strength and quality of music in higher education by assisting institutional members and their faculties to do their best work. Our Bachelors of Science in Engineering program is currently accredited by ABET (EAC) to ensure academic standards meet national accreditation requirements.
