      1. Haaga-Helia was formed at the beginning of 2007 with Finland's first merger of higher education institutions, as Helsinki Business Polytechnic and Haaga Institute Polytechnic joined forces. This means that we are celebrating our 10th anniversary this year. Our roots are deep in entrepreneurship and working life. We educate sales-, service- and entrepreneurship-oriented specialists for the needs of companies. Haaga-Helia is one of Finland's most clearly profiled universities of applied sciences and a pioneer in education exports. Pioneering and innovation in networks have been the cornerstones of our operations from the very beginning. We have found our mission in an open door approach – we are opening the doors to working life. This reflects not only the opportunities provided by our studies and the high degree of employment of our students but also our dynamic co-operation with companies and keeping up with the times. We are enabling change in people, companies, and the whole of society. We will continue reinventing things by breaking the barriers between working life and institutions of higher education. In the future, higher education will most of all, be about networking. Sharing one's learning is also an essential part of our staff's development. We need skilled and enthusiastic employees to keep us going as effectively in the next decade, too. Our Mission, Vision, Sub-Strategies, Enablers, and Value Foundation. Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences trains professionals for business and services through education, research, and development. Our education fields are business, hotel, restaurant and tourism management, information technology, journalism, management assistant training, sports management, and vocational teacher education. We offer our staff a high-quality international working environment, the possibility to participate in the dynamic development of Haaga-Helia, and a wide variety of staff benefits. We invest in the well-being of our staff and developing their expertise. Teaching is offered in Finnish, Swedish, and English. We have about 650 members of staff and about 10,500 students. Haaga-Helia, Laurea, and Metropolia have launched new initiatives to deepen their partnership in specific strategic co-operation areas. The universities have begun developing measures to promote education export, research & development, student mobility, and innovation & entrepreneurship. The partnership draws from each institution's unique educational profile and identity. The Helsinki metropolitan area needs higher education institutions with distinctive profiles that respond to the region's skills needs. To this end, the institutions focus on a strategic partnership that will benefit both students and employers. Haaga-Helia operates and develops with the same features as to how a top team operates in team play. We could refer to ourselves as HH-Team, playing together passionately and always aiming for the best results. The way HH-Team operates and develops its actions has been described in the portal. The description creates a base for our culture of development and learning. Read below how HH-Team works. Planning and building the team and team spirit. (PLAN) We present our guiding principles as a Playbook, describing what we want to be as an organization and the goals we set for ourselves. Everyone contributes to the Playbook and can influence its content. It includes our strategy and ethical principles. We are committed to acting according to it and creating a team spirit to achieve a more successful operating culture. Every member of the HH-Team, both student and staff member, is responsible for continuous improvement and maintaining our quality culture. Together we have described the quality management and development responsibilities for every individual's role in the organization. Let the game begin! (DO) When the team has been built and principles defined in the Playbook, it is time to play. On the field, we see enthusiastic and competent staff and students. We have documented our offensive and defensive play formations in process descriptions and work instructions. In addition to our staff and students, our stakeholders join us on the field. Ultimately, together we advance and score. The goal area and results. (CHECK) Our scoreboard and results are available to our staff and students as well as to stakeholders. We monitor our results from several perspectives: funding model indicators, our internal indicators, student and staff results, and the perspective of societal impact. We evaluate our operations systematically internally and externally. Staff, students, and stakeholders participate in evaluations. An internal evaluation is included in the setting of a yearly action plan and budget. Haaga-Helia's quality system is audited every six years by the Finnish Education Evaluation Centre (FINEEC) by the higher education institutions' audit process. Haaga-Helia is a member of the American AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and EFMD (The European Foundation for Management Development) – we aim for international accreditation. We are also actively cooperating with Finnish Quality Association.
