  1. Our school is known for its curriculum, culture, and high academic standards. Every day we engage, excite, and challenge our students intellectually, physically, and creatively. Founded in 1995, LFT is the only Toronto school, from PK to Grade 12, to combine the intellectually stimulating education of France's French curriculum with the inclusive Canadian perspective and values. Our students are fully immersed in the best aspects of our two complementary cultures. We have a co-ed enrolment of 500 students, and a genuinely international student body, with nearly half of our students speaking French at home. Many of our students speak an additional language, including Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic… The school's intimate size allows us to create a close-knit, integrated, and respectful non-denominational community. LFT is one of 488 schools in 130 countries outside of France that is part of the AEFE Network (Agency For French Teaching Abroad) – an unparalleled global academic network. Most of our teachers, and the school's Headmaster, hail from France's education system, and many have taught internationally, producing an enriched and expansive educational environment. With bilingual education, LFT students study in some of the most competitive universities in Canada, the United States, and Europe. Equipped both intellectually and socially, they excel and thrive in the modern world. Our approach at LFT is to give students an authentic French Lycée education augmented by key Canadian content. The school curriculum is laid out by the French Ministry of National Education and is then enhanced with Canadian cultural classes and experiences. This dual approach creates responsible citizens equipped for the world of tomorrow. LFT is the only school in Toronto to offer a rigorous French education from Pre-K to Grade 12 paired with a Canadian perspective and artistic, cultural, athletic, and extracurricular activities. By following the French Education system, LFT sets the highest academic standards as we prep our students for the French Baccalauréat, which places particular attention on language, literature, math, science, history, and geography. Since 2000, the year in which the first graduating class took the Baccalauréat examinations, our students' results have been excellent, averaging 75% passing the exam with distinction. At LFT, we are proud to say that we have a 100% pass rate – that speaks volumes for our curriculum, students, and staff. With small class sizes and a human approach to teaching, our faculty strives to impact our students' lives. They are dedicated professionals who see to it that each student gets the attention they need. Most of our teachers have diplomas from the French Education system and a French Baccalauréat. Teachers of English classes are accredited Ontario teachers, and in fact, all language Teachers teach in their native language. Our approach to Canadian culture creates an enriching connection for students. With school trips, cultural weeks, charity work, and community service, they experience the best this country has to offer. This blend of French and Canadian foster a multi-cultural community that prides itself on social responsibility. Our history began in 1995 when French and French-Canadian parents created a Lycée and offered a comprehensive French education for their children. With the help of the French government and the local French Consulate, the LFT was founded. In the first year, the school had 56 students and was located near the University of Toronto. During the following years, the LFT opened classes as these students grew, and then starting in the fall of 1997, additional classes were added. The first Grade 12 graduating class was in June 2000 with 23 graduates. In September 2002, the first kindergarten class was opened. Then in September 2008, the school moved to its present location on Dufferin Street. The LFT is part of the AEFE network and one of 522 French establishments abroad. Our aim remains the same to provide children with a high standard of education based on the French curriculum. The LFT curriculum stems from the French Ministry of Education and is enhanced with Canadian classes and activities. Based on the philosophy of whole child values, our students grow academically and socially from in-class studies and hands-on experiences.
