      1. The MEA Curriculum – what we teach our students – has been completely redesigned in 2015-16 to meet the needs of the new, demanding GCSEs being introduced from 2016-17. Our processes of ‘Know It/Show It and Big Test’ are supporting our students to develop independent learning skills, knowledge, and performing under exam conditions. We have ambitious curriculum plans for all our students, from high ability E-Bacc students who will go to University to those students who will need more individual support to excel. Our vision is ‘A fantastic future for all our students. What does this future look like? Academic success is vital to this and our excellent results demonstrate our ambition for our students. Excellent examination grades are the foundation for a future where students can shape their own careened our success demonstrates how much the young people of Wythenshawe share this ambition. Manchester Enterprise Academy (MEA) is publicly funded so it is free for your child to attend, but as an Academy, we use o, ur freedoms to shape a curriculum and a school experience that is tailor tailor-made for our students’ development into well-rounded young people. We are supported by lead sponsor Manchester Airport and co-sponsors Wythenshawe Community Housing Group and Manchester City Council these organizations all help to shape the ethos of the academy and build a bridge between education and business which will bring careers and prosperity not just to your children, but the community as a whole. Our curriculum is an academic one, we offer and excel in all the subjects contained in the ‘English Baccalaureate’ suite of qualifications – English, Maths, Science, Humanities and Modern Foreign Languages as well as a host of other exciting qualifications. Our 6th Form provision is vocational – offering students a chance to specialize in a particular professional qualification and also study business skills. We set high expectations and all of our students have to buy into our ethos of hard work and personal growth so that they can thrive both at MEA and in their future lives. Our values are based on the British Cultural values of tolerance, openness, and inclusion. We recognize that our community has a different ethnic mix to the city we neighbor and it is vital that our students have an understanding of, and confidence in, the complexity and vibrancy of modern British Culture. We pride ourselves on our inclusive ethos and that students regardless of ability, ethnicity, social background, disability, faith, sexuality will succeed at MEA. Manchester Enterprise Academy presents a fantastic opportunity for your child to achieve academic success at one of the top 100 most improved schools in England. Our results and improvements demonstrate our commitment to transforming the opportunities available to our students. We hope you will join us and become part of our success story. We also believe that the curriculum extends beyond the academic into all other aspects of Academy life. As Ofsted reported, “The curriculum meets the needs of the students very well. There are many enrichment opportunities on offer and the students appreciate these. Many reflect the academy’s enterprise specialism and involve the academy’s sponsors and other local and national businesses.” We want every student to be challenged academically, to be inspired, and to use this motivation to achieve the fantastic future they aspire to. Future employment patterns will evolve rapidly and we prepare our students to thrive within this ever more complex future. The transition process begins early in Year 5, a chance for MEA’s values to come alive for the students, providing them with the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the Academy and take their first steps in building strong relationships with our fantastic teachers and support staff. Our transition process ensures that our Year 7 students start the Academy feeling cared for and ready to excel. From the minute they arrive for their first induction day the students are supported by a dedicated Year 7 team who work closely with parents and carers to make sure they feel involved and informed about their child’s education. We have a full-time, non-teaching Pastoral Manager working with Y7 only and a Pastoral Strategy Leader driving forward our Fantastic Future curriculum which is our development curriculum for students. To guarantee every child has a flying start we provide free uniform (blazer and tie) to all Year 7 students and we have a ‘settling in the evening’ for Year 7 students and their parents and carers in the first half term, so their first steps towards a fantastic future are in place. Our over-subscribed 6th Form has become the destination of choice for many students aged 16 to 18. Access to the world of work and study makes us unique amongst 6th Forms as we can deliver the MEA Guarantee. This states that on leaving, every student will have support and a realistic opportunity to advance positively into further training, education, or employment. This is realized through the close links we have with our sponsors and partners including Manchester Airport, Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, Manchester City Council, and Manchester United amongst others. This network of partners provides our students with unparalleled access to the world of work and further study. The networking opportunities we offer are strengthened further through our mentoring program. This links our students with a mentor from a local business who provides individual support to students when they are making choices about their future or preparing them for employment. This program has taken our students in many, exciting directions including full and part-time employment, extended work experience, interview preparation, support with university applications, and so on. Alongside our varied curriculum, we offer numerous opportunities for students to develop and achieve their personal goals. Working as student leaders, Sixth Former’s work with younger pupils both at MEA and in primary schools developing leadership skills. Charity fundraising, participation in community events, and an extensive program of visits linked to studies and future destinations all contribute to the wider education of students. Finally, our courses are tailor-made to suit our students and their learning needs best. It’s never been a better time to join the MEA 6th form. View full school
      2. London Enterprise Academy is a small, more personal school with no more than 120 pupils in each year group. Students are grouped in smaller class sizes. This means teachers will get to know every pupil as an individual and be able to closely nurture and challenge them all. We have a longer school day, a wide range of extra-curricular activities, and a more personalized curriculum for our students. Our curriculum focuses on every student mastering the most important subjects and skills, particularly English, Maths, and Science. We aim to encourage our students to become “learners for life” by embedding enterprise skills throughout the curriculum. We embrace technological advancement and innovation to ensure our students have the latest facilities available to make learning exciting, engaging, and fun. With smaller classes, your child will receive more personal attention and be less likely to be overwhelmed by the transition to secondary school. We work with professionals and entrepreneurs to provide mentoring to our pupils from a young age to inspire them to become the leaders of tomorrow. We demand high standards from our pupils and staff, with a ‘no excuses’ approach to work and discipline. Our vision is to establish an outstanding school that will ensure students achieve personal success in their school life and beyond. We believe success at school provides a strong foundation for students to become engaged citizens who believe in themselves and can bring about positive change, for themselves and the society they live in. Our school’s ethos will support this vision by creating a school that is sympathetic to the social background of the students given the Tower Hamlets location and proactive concerning the unique opportunities this dynamic and well-situated borough affords. Central to our school’s ethos is a student-centric and individualized learning approach designed to achieve personal success for every student, regardless of where their abilities lie. Our curriculum is designed to equip our students as engaged citizens who will have the right skills to be active participants in modern British society. The school gives parents additional choice in their quest for a school providing outstanding education, focusing on excellence in academic achievement and in an environment that nurtures their child to develop a strong sense of social, moral, spiritual, and cultural development without having to pay. We all want our children to live in a safe and loving environment so that they can grow up to become happy, confident adults. You will already know that your children can be vulnerable to risks both inside and outside the home, and will have taken steps to protect them so they can grow, learn and develop to their fullest potential. The regulations state that to meet the standard for the SMSC development of pupils, the proprietor of the independent school, academy, or free school must Actively promote the fundamental British values: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. We have a fully vetted and monitored extracurricular activities program. All activities are monitored for neutrality. We offer major religious groups the opportunity to practice under their faith. There are Muslim prayers every day of the week for both boys and girls. All sessions are supervised by a Muslim member of staff. LG members monitor the prayers for content, attendance, and safety. London Enterprise Academy is a fully inclusive school. We offer accessibility and support to children with a wide range of needs and have adapted resources to support them. We review our practices regularly to make sure all students are fully included in the lesson. Students are mindful of others’ needs and aware of how they should adapt their behavior to support them. Our school core values are leadership, enterprise, ambition, drive, excellence, and respect. It is our vision that the curriculum with all its enrichment opportunities will give our students the chance to develop these qualities. Many of the enrichment opportunities will give the students insight into a range of skills and subjects so that they can grow their experiences and discover new talents. Many of the subjects can be offered as a certificate or qualification (or lead to a wider choice of GCSEs in the future) and will be an enhancement to any CV. Fundamentally, we want our pupils to become confident, creative, and critical problem-solving citizens with broad experiences that not only enhance their GCSE achievements but also give them the skills needed for the 21st Century workplace and to embrace “Learning for life”.
