- St George’s School, Edgbaston, is a fully co-educational independent day school for children from ages 3 to 18. Established as a charitable trust, St George’s opened in September 1999 as Birmingham’s first independent school to offer a complete education for boys and girls from kindergarten through to the sixth form. St George’s School is committed to: Maximizing individual achievement within a caring community. Developing respect and responsibility in all relationships. Promoting friendship, fair play, and equality. Creating opportunities for personal development in a changing and challenging world. Our ethos is rooted in the values of Christianity and other great faiths. Our school community reflects the multi-cultural diversity of Birmingham and we welcome people from all religions or none. Our Sixth Formers become ‘big fish in a small pool’ where they are expected to take on responsibilities and become leaders in upholding school discipline and ethos. It is no accident that the Sixth Form building is at the center of our campus. Sixth Formers contribute to the wider life of the School as part of our ‘one school community’ ethos. This may involve running the tuck shop, helping with the library or computer supervision, ‘buddying’ younger or foreign students, and getting involved with school theatre productions.
