We are very proud of our children and all their achievements and we hope the website gives you a flavor of what we do. We recently renewed the school's vision which is now ACE - Aspiration, Citizenship, and Excellence. We are passionate about children achieving their best and enjoying their learning. We aim to provide children with high-quality learning and teaching and to ensure that they make good progress in all areas. We also seek to develop and enhance independent lifelong learning skills through our Excellent Learner Behaviours. We are lucky to enjoy a great building and grounds with lots of open space. We have: A bright modern building Modern well equipped classrooms with Interactive Whiteboards A bespoke and well resourced Computing Suite Two halls A Nursery class in a beautiful new building Two classes for children with Severe and Complex Needs A safe and secure play space for Early Years Provision in internal courtyards A Breakfast Club and an After School Club Large outdoor play areas (including a large field) Forest School provision on site Excellent library provision A thriving PTA A wide range of music provision in school including our community choir We also have specialist teaching in the following subjects: Art, Computing, PE and Spanish. These resources help our children learn as does the overall quality of teaching and the outstanding relationships between both pupils and their peers and pupils and staff. We are very proud of the outcome of our recent Ofsted Inspection (May 2016) which graded the school as Good overall with Outstanding Behaviour, Personal Development, and Welfare. We want to develop children who believe in themselves, are fearless in their education, and always strive to go further. We want to help children grow into happy, responsible, brave, confident, and competent members of their community, who are ready for secondary school and life beyond. We are passionate about achieving the very best teaching and learning in every subject in every classroom, making the most of our staff’s talents and our physical environment to deliver the best possible outcomes for every child. You’ll notice the arrival of several bright new posters around the school explaining how these ideas can make a practical difference in our everyday school life. As a governing body, we have been working closely with the senior leadership team to embed these priorities into our school strategy and our school culture. You will have noticed some positive changes already this term. We now have specialist teachers in Art, PE, Computing, and Spanish, who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to every year group. Our after-school club's timetable now gives children many more opportunities to discover talents and interests, across a wide range of activities. Our subject leaders are working hard to bring an exciting breadth to the Churchfields curriculum, for example in Science, RE, and PHSE as well as the core subjects. We are reinvigorating our approach to literacy, to ignite a passion for reading among our children and improve their confidence and proficiency. And our improved grounds, new classrooms, new libraries, sensory room, and extended playground equipment are looking fantastic. We are proud of how far we’ve come – and of all the children’s achievements last year – and we will keep on working, to make sure we go from strength to strength in delivering our vision for Churchfields. At Churchfields we recognize that children start school with widely varying skills as learners. Some children start with many of the attributes of excellent learners, but for many, these will need to be taught, encouraged, and learned. Churchfields Junior School is situated in South Woodford in the London Borough of Redbridge. Our school opened in 1874 and has occupied the same site for over three centuries. In 2011 a rebuild was completed to provide purpose-built accommodation. Our main aim is to provide high-quality teaching and an effective learning environment for all our children. We continue to employ new technologies and innovative practical strategies to ensure that our children are thoroughly engaged and enjoy their educational experience. Our staff team is committed to providing a secure and happy environment in which all children can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. All our children are highly motivated, well behaved and a real pleasure to teach. We are very proud of them and Churchfields Junior School. At Churchfields Junior School we are committed to helping every child succeed, whatever their background or ability. We want to create a safe, happy, healthy, and supportive atmosphere where children can love life, learning, and play. We aim to offer our pupils rich and exciting learning opportunities that will help them to achieve and develop, and inspire them to do their very best. We devised this as a whole staff. We change the key points we particularly wish to work on at the beginning of each academic year. Our vision is for Churchfields to be a place of transforming growth, where education inspires children and adults to achieve, and where all members of our school community engage in a process of lifelong learning. We want to see all our pupils thrive as successful learners socially and academically through high-quality teaching and a rich and supportive learning environment. We want to see our values owned, understood, and in evidence at all levels throughout the school community. We believe in valuing each pupil and recognize that all children should be challenged, supported, and included in all aspects of school life. We want to promote equality and develop community cohesion, by creating rich and sustainable links across the community, which promote harmonious understanding. We want to see a school community that is enthused by and engaged in the shared ownership of a creative agenda.
