We are very proud of our children and all their achievements and we hope the website gives you a flavor of what we do. We recently renewed the school's vision which is now ACE - Aspiration, Citizenship, and Excellence. We are passionate about children achieving their best and enjoying their learning. We aim to provide children with high-quality learning and teaching and to ensure that they make good progress in all areas. We also seek to develop and enhance independent lifelong learning skills through our Excellent Learner Behaviours.
We are lucky to enjoy a great building and grounds with lots of open space. We have:

- A wide range of music provision in school including our community choir
We also have specialist teaching in the following subjects: Art, Computing, PE and Spanish. These resources help our children learn as does the overall quality of teaching and the outstanding relationships between both pupils and their peers and pupils and staff. We are very proud of the outcome of our recent Ofsted Inspection (May 2016) which graded the school as Good overall with Outstanding Behaviour, Personal Development, and Welfare.
We want to develop children who believe in themselves, are fearless in their education, and always strive to go further. We want to help children grow into happy, responsible, brave, confident, and competent members of their community, who are ready for secondary school and life beyond.
We are passionate about achieving the very best teaching and learning in every subject in every classroom, making the most of our staff’s talents and our physical environment to deliver the best possible outcomes for every child.

But it is not just about words! As a governing body, we have been working closely with the senior leadership team to embed these priorities into our school strategy and our school culture.
You will have noticed some positive changes already this term. We now have specialist teachers in Art, PE, Computing, and Spanish, who bring their expertise and enthusiasm to every year group. Our after-school club's timetable now gives children many more opportunities to discover talents and interests, across a wide range of activities. Our subject leaders are working hard to bring an exciting breadth to the Churchfields curriculum, for example in Science, RE, and PHSE as well as the core subjects. We are reinvigorating our approach to literacy, to ignite a passion for reading among our children and improve their confidence and proficiency. And our improved grounds, new classrooms, new libraries, sensory room, and extended playground equipment are looking fantastic. We are proud of how far we’ve come – and of all the children’s achievements last year – and we will keep on working, to make sure we go from strength to strength in delivering our vision for Churchfields.
At Churchfields we recognize that children start school with widely varying skills as learners. Some children start with many of the attributes of excellent learners, but for many, these will need to be taught, encouraged, and learned. There is a wealth of evidence suggesting that children’s capacity for learning is not fixed, for example, Carol Dweck’s work on “Growth Mindsets.”
