      1. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart is the only Catholic, all-girls Montessori-3 through Grade 12 college preparatory school in the State of Florida. We are part of an international network of Sacred Heart schools whose mission is to educate women leaders in the Sacred Heart tradition that fosters growth in an active faith in God, intellectual values, and a commitment to social awareness in an environment of wise freedom and community. Today, the Network of Sacred Heart schools is an association of 22 Catholic schools across the United States and nearly 150 schools internationally. Independent yet united in spirit and purpose, the international community of the Sacred Heart community believes in educating the whole child and preparing her to live fully and wisely. At the core of the Sacred Heart education, the Goals and Criteria are the principles that express the intentions and hopes of our 200-year tradition. Carrollton's culture and identity are bound inextricably to the vision outlined in the Goals of Sacred Heart Schools. These values form the moral compass that influences the choices made within our community. Learning to draw upon these values during their school days, Carrollton graduates become women of conviction, courage, and confidence. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart is committed to developing young women who will shape a world where all people respect and appreciate their common humanity and celebrate diversity. Because the diversity of all kinds is experienced in many different ways, students are encouraged to explore the rich cornucopia of cultures, interests, and perspectives around them at Carrollton. It is only through expanding one's awareness of others that one can truly understand oneself. Students gain this understanding through a spectrum of clubs and forums, an international and global experience afforded through both the curriculum and a school community, which values the concept of tolerance and inclusion. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart is a community inextricably bound by the educational imperatives clearly outlined by our foundress over 200 years ago. We are a family of Christ's Heart in Miami. Sacred Heart education's distinctive spirit addresses the student's total development: spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical. Through these website pages, you will have an opportunity to become acquainted with the depth of our spiritual life, our expectations of academic rigor, the systems we support for age appropriate emotional development and intelligence, and the passion for well-being and athletic excellence introduced to all our students. We view education as a means to an end, and, in the spirit of the Sacred Heart, that end is to make God's love known in the world. As they grow in their self-understanding as God's Beloved, Carrollton students are given the foundation to be thoughtful women of courage and confidence. They will work on behalf of others, strengthen their community, and root themselves and their families in principles that will sustain them for life. As a School of the Sacred Heart, Carrollton holds that Jesus Christ is at the core of who we are. We believe that an informed, lively faith is the fruit of reading the Gospels and encountering the person of Jesus Christ as He is presented in the Scriptures. Carrollton graduates have a basic understanding of the Church's teaching about Christ and His redeeming mission, as well as an understanding of the Church's past and present role in that mission. Ideally, the Carrollton graduate begins through faith to affirm the belief that there is meaning in life and thereby has begun to develop a sense of hope. She has begun to form her conscience and evaluate moral choices and reason through moral issues with increasing clarity. She has begun to appreciate how a vibrant Christian community and the Eucharist celebration complement each other. She is learning through her failures of the need for healing and reconciliation. She is embracing Madeleine Sophie Barat's way of prayer with a daily practice of silence, of espacio. Our greatest hope is that the Carrollton graduate has developed her interior life so that she is one who trusts the Spirit dwelling within. We hope that she has developed the habit of looking for God in all things. This habitual instinct – to choose God – takes time and energy to develop. We want our graduates to know that a life rooted in prayer has both fullness and integrity. Based on the foundational principles articulated in the Goals and Criteria followed by all Sacred Heart schools in the country, Carrollton is a transformative experience intended to prepare girls intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, socially, and personally to successfully face the challenges of adulthood.
