  1. Kennedy Road Tabernacle ("KRT"), affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada ("PAOC"), had been serving the Brampton area since 1967 when its leadership team sensed the call of God to create the KRT Christian School ministry with a vision of establishing a strong, interdenominationally Christian presence in Brampton and Caledon for generations to come. Concurrently, KRT began the application process with the Ministry of Education to become an officially registered private school. KRT Christian Schools was officially established in 1977 as a registered private board of education and school. In 1977, under the direction of Pastor Ron Stevens, Mr. Mark Kennedy was installed as the founding Principal with eight teachers and 94 students in Grades JK to grade five. Classes began in the Sunday School classrooms and two portables at the Church, but the facility was quickly outgrown. In response to the incredible demand and burgeoning classrooms, Pastor Stevens and the KRT Church Board, in addition to a group of dedicated KRT students' families, sacrificially committed to taking personal mortgages to buy the land which Brampton Christian School is situated today. In the same year, KRT Christian School broke ground on the first phase of its development. It was completed in time for September 1978. In that year, 265 students and 13 teachers under the leadership of Principal David J. Hardy, began a new chapter in the great story of KRT Christian Schools, whose story is still unfolding today as Brampton Christian School. In 1982, Mr. Bob Boshart took the helm of the school, and during his 26-year tenure, along with Vice-Principal Sharon Tannahill, he stewarded the school's expansion accredited service up to Grade 12. As God continued to bless the Brampton Christian School Ministry, Mr. Boshart facilitated the expansion of the elementary school to include a new high school facility in 1995, all the while judiciously saving to fund yet another expansion. Mr. Boshart's retirement in 2007 and Mrs. Tannahill's return to her first love— teaching art in the classroom—was accompanied by a strategic plan for further growth. Mr. Ralph Andrews was installed as Interim Principal, Mr. John Miller, as the new Junior High Vice-Principal and Mr. Andy Cabral as the new High School Academy Vice-Principal. These three joined Mrs. Cathy Doggart, who had already been serving as the Elementary Vice-Principal since 1998, on the Administrative Team for the expansion project. With the support of Pastor Jamie Stewart and the active service of the KRT Board and School Management Team members, the massive $6 million high school addition was completed on time and under budget. In less than two years, this beautiful state-of-the-art high school was dedicated to God's glory to house our growing school population, with the old high school becoming the new home of our Junior High division. In August 2010, Mr. Alex Abdulnour succeeded Mr. Andrews as Principal of Brampton Christian School, bringing extensive experience in educational leadership from his years in administration at a Kindergarten school in China and his time as a teacher in the JH division at BCS. As a passionate visionary, Mr. Abdulnour led the school through a time of significant internal growth. During his four (4) years as Principal, the school's infrastructure developed to include the Before and After School Club rams, and Kiss' n' Ride. Also, BCS began to take on a notable role in the Association of Christian Schools International, hosting its yearly Eastern Canada Teacher Convention, Board, and Administrator's Conferences, as well as the World Concerns Conference. The Junior Kindergarten program at Brampton Christian School provides the building blocks for learning experiences. Christian principles and teachings are woven into this full-day, five-day a week program. JK students are introduced to many primary subjects at an age-appropriate, fun paced, learning environment. Students will be introduced to the French language using songs and games. The Music program introduces students to rhythm, movement, and song in the Phys. Ed. program students have an opportunity to participate in many activities and develop new skills. Some activities include balls, parachute, and hoops, and as well, students participate in a gymnastics and dance unit. Library and computer classes are also provided. The academic program follows the "Footsteps for Fours" course of study, which covers Phonics, Math, Social Studies, and Science. Readiness skills are taught for printing, reading, and math. Whole class and small group activities help to reinforce the skill being taught, as well as individual seatwork. Students are introduced to many Bible stories through the "Bible Truths" Christian Education program. They also memorize one Bible memory verse each month. Every month students will be introduced to mini themes that are woven into the academic and play sections of the JK program. Thematic units are also highlighted with a variety of school trips, in-school workshops, and activities throughout the school year. The JK class will participate in the Spring concert in May. The Senior Kindergarten Program at Brampton Christian School provides learning experiences which will develop the foundational skills necessary for success. Christian principles and teachings are integrated into our full-day programs and offer opportunities to meet the developmental needs of the total child: socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically. The Senior Kindergarten program provides opportunities for students to learn to function within a group and become independent in handling personal needs, handling classroom materials, and following routines. Students learn to express and communicate thoughts and ideas through speaking, listening, and writing. Grade 2 is an exciting year at Brampton Christian School. Students learn many things. Reading is essential. Students read every day at school, and every night at home, using the RazKids Program. Below are the subjects taught in Grade 2, along with a list of skills learned in each subject and the topics covered in the Grade 2 Curriculum. The Grade Three curriculum offers a year full of new and challenging learning opportunities for the students. This year also marks the beginning of an exciting journey for students to represent our school on our competitive and intramural sports teams. One of our main goals for grade 4 is to promote independence and responsibility for student learning since this is their first year in a junior grade. The curriculum expectations are met in ways that are interesting, applicable, and relevant to our students' lives. They will participate in many group and independent activities, which will allow them to express their learning in different ways. The students should be excited and enthusiastic about learning. In Grade 5, we teach to excite the students with learning that applies to everyday life. The assignments and activities that the students complete are conducive to many learning styles. In our classroom, we emphasize the importance of respect, self-worth, and having a Christ-centered life. View full school

We want our children to have a variety of experiences and we are committed to following the requirements of the National Curriculum. Part of this is taught through a project-based curriculum through our use of the scheme Cornerstones - a broad and balanced, knowledge and skills-based curriculum with a creative edge. Comprising of over 80 themed projects and 1000s of lesson ideas mapped to the National Curriculum. Literacy is delivered through the Letters and Sounds and Read Write Inc phonics scheme, Cornerstones, and Read and Respond. Children’s learning is frequently based upon carefully selected, high-quality books and combined with creative teaching approaches, involving, for example, art and drama to heighten the experience of reading. This approach aims to engage and motivate children in their literacy learning, broaden their vocabulary, and enable a deeper understanding of texts also it provides a stimulating, meaningful context for writing. A quality text is used as a basis for learning over several weeks. Children explore and discuss the text through creative activities. They also write in a range of genres as part of the unit. For the teaching of mathematics, we use a range of resources to supplement our scheme of work. We dedicate a significant amount of time to developing key number concepts each year. This ensures students build their fluency as number sense will affect their success in other areas of mathematics. Building on their knowledge and understanding of numbers children are challenged to develop their reasoning and problem-solving skills. All aspects of our curriculum are supported by a program of educational visits/school trips and extra-curricular events (a mixture of events held at school, in London, and across the country). Parents are advised of the arrangements for these events in advance.

  5. At Brampton, we have high academic expectations for our children while remaining a friendly, community-focused school that is both caring and inclusive. We are at an exciting stage in the school’s journey and now have four classes in every year group as we enter our centenary year. Our school was built in 1915, with two buildings - Infant and Junior. These have been used as girls' and boys' buildings and as separate primary and secondary schools. We have a new Dinner/Sports Hall with amazing facilities, alongside our Nature Garden. This building has a rich history, which may surprise you! It started life as a bicycle shed but later had its sides built in to create two rooms. Former pupil Dame Vera Lynn tells us that during her time at Brampton it was used as a craft room. It has had various other uses including its time as a Parents Room and as an after-school club run by Community Links. More recently it has been a resource center and following the current building program will become a well-being center. We are based in a residential area of East Ham, next to Brampton Park. There is a range of housing, from semi-detached houses to terraces and flats. In Geography and History topics we study the local area. We look at changes that have happened in the past and our ideas for the future. We frequently use the park for events such as Sports Day and sponsored walks, but also for Art or Science activities in April 2011 we hosted a party in Brampton Park to celebrate the Royal Wedding – 2,000 children from five local schools attended together with many parents and residents. Brampton has an exceptional team of teachers and support staff who are dedicated to providing an outstanding educational experience for every child. We aim to ensure that every child is equipped with the skills and a thirst for knowledge and learning that will help them be successful in the next phase of their education. We recognize your children represent society’s next generation and we teach them to become responsible, respectful, and tolerant citizens of the future. As education is constantly changing it is important that we continue to join together with parents and the community to build for the future. We have a joint responsibility that must be based on mutual understanding and trust. Only by working together in partnership will we be able to achieve our aim of providing the best possible education for your children. We have a very diverse community, which is reflected in the make-up of our school. Our children come from a variety of places around the world and we like to celebrate this in classrooms and at special events, like Refugee Week. The atmosphere around the school is positive and each class has its character. From Nursery to Year 6 the children are encouraged to become independent learners and take responsibility for their progress. We work together to build confidence and self-esteem, allowing children to explore different activities in a range of ways. We are developing pedagogy across the school which emphasizes putting the needs of children first. It allows them to learn in visual, auditory, or practical ways. We celebrate children’s achievements in lots of ways, from stickers to trophies, to end-of-year certificates. We participate in a lot of sports events, where we have shone out above other schools. There is a selection of other clubs available to children across the school. We are also close to the ever-growing area of Docklands and the O2 (formerly the Millennium Dome). West Ham Utd's home, the Boleyn Ground, is a short walk away and some pupils use the ICT scheme running there after school or in the holidays.

View full school
