  1. University of Science and Technology Bannu's (UST Bannu) aspiration is to bridge disciplines and establish new partnerships while identifying creative approaches to enhance academic quality and research potentialities. The UST Bannu is a newly established Public Sector University in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Provincial Assembly. UST Bannu is paving towards the journey to impart high-quality education in the fields of Life Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Social Sciences, Physical Sciences, Business Studies, and Humanities. Since its inception, the UST Bannu is pursuing its mission successfully. The first academic year was started in September 2005 with a total intake of 200 students in various disciplines of IECS (Institute of Engineering and Computing Sciences) and IMS (Institute of Management Sciences) after conducting proper entry tests and interviews. Presently Bachelor, Master, and Ph.D. level degrees are offered. It is worth mentioning that the number of students would increase by initiating new faculties and higher enrollment rates in colleges of the affiliated region. The UST Bannu is an autonomous body and is governed by the Chancellor’s Committee till the formation of the Syndicate. This Committee is headed by the Governor of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa vide Ordinance 2005, comprises seven members, the major policy-making and controlling body of the University. The Committee is a think tank of leading experts in the field of education, religious scholars, and representatives of the business community, and senior officials of the government. This committee would work as a bridge/link between the University and the communities/business world, which is always considered to be an essential requirement for a dynamic seat of learning, working on sound grounds. Dedicated teamwork of honest and spirited professionals from both the Administration and the Faculty is key in clinching this achievement and as a Torch-bearer of the University, the responsibility lies on my shoulder to promote liaison and harmony between the Departments and the Administration so that the University may find its niche in the top ranking universities of the country. In today’s rapidly changing world, the advancement and development of both Faculty and Students are paramount to be at par with the modern lines. In this connection, well-equipped and fully furnished infrastructure both for the students and for the faculty members are the needs of the day to achieve the desired results. As a Team leader, I am fully aware of my responsibilities in this regard and I shall leave no stone unturned in accomplishing academic excellence so that the University may prove its admirable Crichton in imparting quality education, result-oriented research, and fostering Industry-academia linkages for the development of the region. Since the University has recently secured its 2nd position in the Province and 15th position countrywide according to the HEC ranking list of 2016, yet we are determined not to sit on our laurels but to excel others in this competition. The University currently offers various on-campuses programs in 21 various disciplines including two engineering programs, five Ph.D. programs plus offering MPhil/MS programs in eight different fields. We are dedicated to expanding the spheres of academic activities by launching new disciplines like Civil-Engineering, D-Pharmacy, Nano-Technology, Petroleum-Engineering, and Law, etc. Last but not least, I forge the motto words for the University “Illuminating the mind by knowledge” so all the faculty members and the students must take up the cudgels to play their active and vibrant role for uplifting the University of Science and Technology Bannu to its acme so that she takes a pride of place in the leading universities not only of the province but also of the country. The developed human resource serves as the foundation for economic independence and prosperity in the global community. To this end, futuristic and strategic thinking is vital in planning curriculum and providing an environment conducive to high-quality learning and research in pure and applied sciences. This is the role that UST Bannu is committed to playing in laying the foundation of our economy on a solid basis. UST Bannu shall endeavor The core mission of the University of Science & Technology Bannu is to invoke the inherent talent of the society it belongs to, and to instill a spirit in it to uncover the hidden horizons of knowledge and learning through the development of futuristic and strategic thinking in pure and applied Sciences thereby preparing the ground for enlightened luminaries to lead the world in scientific and technological development and thus ensuring a golden period for the Motherland. As a learning Institution, parallel endeavor shall be made to develop a community not only fully conversant in the issues of the modern world but also with a cosmopolitan outlook, tolerant attitude, purpose-oriented thinking, and completely alert to the changes, challenges, and needs of the time.
