  2. Welcome to Risley Avenue Primary School. We are situated in Tottenham in the London Borough of Haringey, close to Bruce Castle Park and Bruce Castle Museum, on The Roundway. The school lies within the Bruce Castle Conservation Area and is a Local Listed Building of Merit built-in 1913. Located over a large site we have our school garden, which our children enjoy using to grow vegetables and plants. Over the years we have invested in the structure of the school in September 2011 a new school entrance and parents` resource center was created. In September 2012 a dedicated food technology classroom was opened. In 2014 the school gained a dedicated art block and both playgrounds were updated with new climbing frames and table tennis equipment. The school is a three-form entry Primary School with an Early Years Foundation Stage which comprises two Reception Classes and a Nursery that can facilitate up to 103 part-time places and a 2-year-old provision that can facilitate up to 16 part-time places. We serve a very diverse community and our school population, pupils and staff, reflect our community pupils refer to our school as a “Rainbow School”. Our children speak over 40 different languages and come from a range of cultures, religions, and backgrounds, which we respect and value. It is a happy and stimulating learning environment where every child is encouraged and supported to achieve their very best. Here at Risley we challenge and support every pupil to achieve their full potential in an atmosphere of respect. We prepare our children through irresistible learning opportunities to grow into responsible, respectful, independent citizens who are equipped and confident to take their place in the wider world. Children in this learning community strive every day to make Risley a vibrant, inclusive, safe, and happy school. We aim to be remembered by all who come here as a place where learning is at the heart of living’. Risley Avenue Top 10 Values: Respect Aspiration Perseverance Teamwork Love Democracy The rule of law Courage Honesty Tolerance and beliefs At Risley, we wish to provide, “… pupils with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they need to be educated, citizens…” We aim to offer a curriculum that is broad and balanced, introducing pupils to a wide range of knowledge, understanding, and skills. By doing so we hope to: Develop links with the community– "Risley is a community school and we want children to RESPECT and be tolerant of all cultures and faiths. They are also part of a bigger national and international community. We have links with other schools in the UK and the wider world". Provide children with real experiences – "We use educational visits, visitors to school and our learning environment to engage pupils. We give children opportunities to experience the world around them and ASPIRE to achieve their dreams". Encourage children to take a lead and develop problem-solving skills – "We want children to be able to think creatively and question. We believe problem-solving is key to their future success and the ability to tackle problems and PERSEVERE in a range of ways will help them to SUCCEED". We are following the Power of Reading project which is in line with the national curriculum. This is a school development project which enhances children’s pleasure in reading and raises attainment in both reading and writing. The project focuses on using creative teaching approaches when exploring books creating a teaching sequence where children are immersed in the world of the book by using reading aloud, drama, art, music, and dance. This leads to increased enjoyment as a result of their knowledge of and involvement with the book. In our teaching, we should provide planned opportunities across the curriculum for students to engage in purposeful talk, both formally and informally. At Risley, the aim of teaching maths is to develop the children’s use of knowledge and skills to solve a range of problems through reasoning, using and applying, and fluency. We teach maths using learning objectives to meet the requirements of the new National Curriculum and the Foundation Stage Early Learning Goals. In Reception, mathematics is taught following the key objectives that are in line with the Early Learning Goals for problem-solving, reasoning, and numeracy for reasoning & Numeracy in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) published by DFES. KS1 and KS2 teachers use the National Curriculum Programme of Study to teach mathematics.
  3. Rhodes Avenue Primary is a very special school where our children are at the heart of all we do. We are a center of high aspirations, which celebrates all levels and genres of achievement. We are a school that promotes optimism and develops self-belief, ambition, and challenge across the curriculum, within an inclusive environment. Our school aims are to promote a love of knowledge and understanding in all our children and the confidence to take risks with their learning. We celebrate individuality and diversity through a broad and rich curriculum, in conjunction with teaching social and moral values concerned with the good of society, the environment, and the global community. This helps to develop empathy, mutual respect, tolerance, social justice, and the importance of loving relationships and family diversity. The school’s ethos and values support parents and families in raising children who will grow to become responsible adults, ready to meet the demands of a fast-moving world, whilst treasuring the awe, wonder, and magic of childhood. We support our pupils to grow – but not too fast. As a school, we embrace our pivotal role in the community that we serve and acknowledge the importance of contributing to the wider society beyond the school gates. Both individually and collectively, the school understands its role and consequent responsibilities as citizens, within Rhodes Avenue Primary School and also within our local environment and wider communities – both physical and virtual. The school aims to ensure that its pupils develop as global citizens so that they can seize and shape the world that awaits them. Rhodes Avenue Primary School strives to provide the best in primary education. Working in partnership with pupils, continue to pursue excellence in all aspects of school life. Our aim is for all children to enjoy learning, and to achieve success in a healthy, happy, and inclusive environment. Rhodes Avenue School benefits from spacious grounds and outdoor spaces. The children are accommodated in a range of buildings: the Foundation Stage building for the full-time nursery and reception children, the Key Stage 1 building for Years 1 and 2, and the Key Stage 2 building for Years 3 to 6. We also have two additional buildings that provide the following facilities – a media/computing suite, an art room, a dedicated music space. At Rhodes Avenue, we aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all pupils, including the ablest, those with special educational needs, and for children for whom English is an additional language. Our curriculum covers the requirements of the latest National Curriculum (2015) through exciting topics which offer all pupils an engaging and stimulating learning experience. Each half-term topic has a History, Geography, or RE focus. Music, Art, Design Technology, and Drama are linked to the topic as are Computing, English, and French where applicable. Mathematics, Science, and Physical Education are taught discreetly unless there are obvious connections to the overall class topic. Safeguarding is a preventative agenda that helps children to achieve their full potential, regardless of negative factors such as poverty or social exclusion, by providing services and support to overcome barriers to achievement. Rhodes Avenue recognizes that pupils may face many barriers to learning that may affect their prospects in later life. The school will safeguard and promote pupils’ welfare by focusing on preventative actions and services so that all pupils can fulfill their potential. Rhodes Avenue will promote pupils’ health by educating them on healthy diets and lifestyles, using the healthy school's program and through school policy, for example, E-safety, Behaviour for Learning, Sex and Relationships Education, Drugs Education and Anti-bullying. Rhodes Avenue will work closely with health professionals to monitor pupils’ health and ensure that pupils with health needs receive the extra support they need to fully participate in education. Rhodes Avenue serves part of Wood Green, close to Alexandra Palace and Muswell Hill. The school has a very stable community (94.2% stability),* pupil mobility is low. The school’s proportion of ethnic minority pupils (45%)* is higher than the national average and also pupils whose first language is believed not to be English (26%)* is greater than the national figure (21%)*. The percentage of pupils known to be eligible for free school meals (FSM) is 3%. much lower than the national picture (24%)*. Following a successful expansion, the school is now three forms of entry with 693 pupils on the school roll.
  4. Booker Juniors is a thriving school with a rich tradition of sport, arts, and high standards in many curriculum areas. It is a welcoming, happy place where children and staff work well together and treat each other with respect. Children here can access a high-quality education as well as a broad range of extracurricular activities, trips, and residential visits. We celebrate success, in whatever form it takes, and aim to support and enable all pupils to reach their full potential. The last two years have seen the school improve standards further in several areas with a large proportion of pupils leaving Year 6 having reached high levels of achievement and many of our pupils and teams succeeding in the sporting arena. Over the past year, we have also greatly improved the resources at the school which enables children to work with portable technology and we are excited to see the potential for making their learning more enjoyable. "We at Booker Avenue Junior School are pledged to the building of a center of excellence in which all contributing individuals are encouraged to develop their maximum potential." At Booker Juniors, we hold values that are common with the values of our country as a whole. We actively promote these values to support our pupils in becoming responsible members of society. As well as promoting British Values, we actively teach the children in our school about a range of values which make our school and society a better place in which to live. Each half term, we explore a different value through our assemblies and class sessions. We also reward children who have shown these values in their conduct and attitude. The Charanga Musical School Scheme enables children to understand music concepts through a repetition-based approach to learning. Each year group follows units of work, each of which includes the following key elements: Listen and Appraise Musical Activities allow the children to play games, sing, play instruments, improvise and compose Perform/Share Throughout the school, classes are organized in year groups with each class being of equal status and working to the same curriculum programs of study in all subjects. For Maths the classes will be 'set' to allow for more focussed teaching to take place. There are an accelerated Maths group and 2 groups of mixed ability children. To allow for even more support, we also have a nurturing intervention group named "The Haven". Alongside our Daily Maths Lesson, children are involved in many small or one-to-one intervention groups more tailored to their specific needs or gaps in their understanding. Since November 2016, we are adopting the 'Talk for Writing' approach to our English lessons. Changing our approach to teaching English will be a two-year process, involving working closely with 'Talk for Writing consultants. 'Talk for Writing is powerful because it enables children to imitate the language they need for a particular topic, orally, before reading and analyzing it and then writing their version. It builds on 3 stages. Each week we want to celebrate the work, effort, behavior, and achievement of the children. Every class teacher chooses a child to receive the 'Star of the Week award which is then celebrated in a whole school assembly. At Booker, we believe the more opportunities the children have in school, the better their educational experience will be. We, therefore, offer a wide range of extra activities.

We aim to achieve this by ensuring regular review of our practices, provision, and curriculum. At Avenue Primary School we believe that every child should have equal opportunities and entitlement. We view Inclusion as the early identification and minimizing of any barriers to learning and participating within a broad and balanced curriculum. All children in our school are valued as equal members of the learning community and have access to a common range of experiences and opportunities to extend their achievement in a learning community that recognizes the strengths of diversity, is positively anti-racist, and acts against all forms of discrimination. 6. Deykin Avenue is situated in Witton, approximately two miles away from the City Centre. There is convenient access to the main bus and train routes and the school is within easy walking distance of the main shopping area in Witton. All four entrances of the school have been adapted to ensure full access. There is a major ramp at the front and two smaller ramps at the back entrances. There are railings to the only steps at the Infant entrance. The school has is a small garden area with an outdoor classroom. The children take part in a range of gardening activities. The junior playground has an activity area, game markings on the ground, and a shelter to provide a shady seating area. The infant playground has a variety of apparatus and equipment to engage our younger children in purposeful play activities. The school is also situated within easy walking distance of a pleasant park area and a nearby canal, all of which are excellent resources for the school science and environmental work and the children can visit these during all seasons. We also have access to nearby allotments. We have installed electronic gates which prevent vehicles from accessing the site during the school day. The electronic system also prevents pedestrian access through the school site. Visitors have to access the school via the secure gate entry system. Doors have been updated with extra security. This is to ensure that parents can be confident that no unauthorized persons can enter. The Governors and staff are aware that this inevitably restricts access for parents, but it is hoped that they respect and agree with the decision and understand they are welcome in school. The main office door has also been updated to enable easy access for those with disabilities. The school is part of a close-knit community and many of the children are second and third generation. Most pupils who attend live in the surrounding area although some attend from further afield. The school is a one-form entry catering for children aged 4-11. There are approximately 210 children on roll in seven classes. Children benefit from the strong support that is given in this close, friendly and caring environment. We are a friendly, caring school and we aim to ensure that all pupils feel safe, happy, and valued. All of the staff at Deykin Avenue are committed to providing the children with exciting learning experiences which will enable them to become independent, lifelong learners. We value your input and look forward to working in partnership with you. Aims: Celebrating all religions and cultures and using a wide range of multi-lingual resources. Ensuring equal opportunities for boys and girls whilst challenging gender stereotypes. Ensuring we have up-to-date policies that protect all children. Providing a safe environment. Valuing the ideas and contributions of children when making decisions. Providing safe, unbiased information. Delivering engaging lessons that educate and inspire. Being honest and allowing children to develop and share their own opinions. We are very proud of the diversity of our children and staff at Deykin Avenue. We come from a range of different cultures, backgrounds, and religions. We value the importance of treating everyone equally and with respect. The children are provided with lots of opportunities to discuss what bullying and discrimination mean and why they are both wrong. Our short-term aim is for our children to enjoy coming to school and wanting to learn. Our long-term aim is that they will grow and develop into proud British citizens, who do not judge other people based on their ethnicity, religion, sexuality, or disability. Below are a few different ways in which we help them to do this. The curriculum is all the planned activities that we organize to promote learning and personal growth and development. It includes not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum but also the range of extra-curricular activities that the school organizes to enrich the experience of the children. It also includes the ‘hidden curriculum’ or what the children learn from the way they are treated and expected to behave. We aim to teach children how to grow into positive, responsible people who can work and co-operate with others while developing knowledge and skills so that they can achieve their true potential.
  7. Grosvenor Avenue Infant School strives to create an atmosphere where all children and adults feel safe, valued, and included. The kind of place where every child can arrive with a smile on their face, where there is a keen sense of belonging and pride in their school. We believe that all children have a voice to be heard and that their care and education must lie at the heart of everything we do. Every child deserves the best possible start in life and support to fulfill their potential. A child’s experience in the early years has a major impact on their future life chances. A secure, safe, and happy childhood is important in its own right, and it provides the foundation for children to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.” We understand that every child is unique and that children join us from a wide range of settings, including some children who have not yet been in a formal setting of any sort. We manage support children to settle into our reception class. Each child has the opportunity to visit the school for a ‘Stay and Play' afternoon’ in the summer term before they start school. This gives the children the opportunity to become familiar with their new environment, their teachers, and a few of their peers, with their parents present. Every family will be offered a home visit from the Reception team. This gives children (& parents and carers) the opportunity to get to know each other in a familiar environment. If your child already attends a nursery or pre-school, the Reception team will visit them there during the summer term. The children are then split into three-phased entry groups, ready for the beginning of the Autumn term. You will find out which group your child is in at the New Parent meeting in June. We induct 10 children at a time, using a system that includes morning, lunch, and whole day sessions. These entry groups are created randomly and are therefore flexible, based on information from parents regarding preferences and their child’s individual needs. In Reception, we use a system called Evernote for storing the observations made of children. Each child will have their own ‘notebook’ which will be shared with parents during their child’s focus week (and at any other time a parent requests this). This enables parents to have a complete understand ding of their child’s progress and development across all seven areas of learning. Observations will be recorded in the form of written text and photographs and occasionally video and audio observations. Parents are given access to their own child’s Evernote notebook via a unique log-in. They are encouraged to use this regularly to keep themselves informed about the learning their child is involved in during their school day. The system also allows parents to add photos and observations of their own to support the practitioners to develop a complete picture of each child. The Reception team is always available to support parents with any aspect of this online recording system. They can be contacted either in person or online through the system itself. To ensure that all pupils leave Grosvenor having had a positive and fulfilling school career, and have every opportunity to meet their full potential. We aim for each child to leave Grosvenor with positive self-belief, having a ‘can do’ approach to learning, and being Resilient, Reflective, and Ready for the future. At Grosvenor, we provide a clear focus on positive outcomes for our children and young people the focus is NOT on hours of provision. We aim to achieve this by fully including our parents/carers and pupils in their education and planning for each step of their achievements. At Grosvenor, we promote friendship and positive relationships to ensure all children and adults enjoy their learning. We encourage mutual respect for people and possessions while consistently promoting self-esteem and empathy for others. We aim to focus on positive behaviors rather than unwanted behaviors by the use of our Golden Rules and House Points and also giving positive feedback to the children in our community.
  8. Kings Avenue School is in the London Borough of Lambeth, between Brixton and Clapham. We are a friendly, multicultural community school taking children from ages 3 – 11 years. We care for every child and develop their self-confidence within a safe, diverse, happy, and stimulating learning environment. We are a school that prides itself on being warm, friendly, and inclusive. We have a clear vision for our school which unites staff, governors, families, and children. We strive to be an inclusive school and offer a broad, balanced and differentiated curriculum, which is challenging and stimulating and meets the needs of all our pupils regardless of ability, gender, or ethnicity. We believe in the importance of supporting and challenging children to achieve academically, whilst also caring about their development as kind, polite and respectful members of our community. At Kings Avenue, we welcome parents, carers, and children as partners in the education process. A successful partnership involves close co-operation, support, and trust as well as recognizing that the best education can only be provided when we have a shared vision and responsibility. Our overall aim is that our pupils leave us as confident, enthusiastic learners prepared for their next stage in education. We will make Kings Avenue the first choice school for all the families in our community. Kings Avenue looks forward to the future with confidence and will enthusiastically prepare children to make good choices as they face the challenges of a rapidly changing world. Our school community will embrace change and be passionate about lifelong learning for all. At Kings Avenue School, we have embraced these changes whole-heartedly. The new curriculum offers schools more freedom and creativity in how they deliver the content of the programs of study we have used this opportunity to devise a brand-new and innovative scheme of work which is tailor-made to the interests and needs of our pupils. Our starting point for this process was our pupils. We consulted with them about what they enjoyed about their learning and what changes they would like to see made. Consulting with our pupils inspired us to make our curriculum bespoke to our school, to reflect what is unique and special about our community and children. From this came our rationale, which is based on the principle of five Curriculum Drivers these key messages and themes will be promoted throughout our curriculum. The result is something we are very proud of. We are certain that the curriculum we have devised will offer breadth and balance of coverage to our pupils, whilst also being completely bespoke to the needs of our school. As it is implemented, we will evaluate its impact rigorously, and we will continue to seek out opportunities to enhance and embellish it. This is a time of great change in schools, but change brings opportunity. At Kings Avenue, it is an exciting time for staff, pupils, and parents alike, as we bring our plans to life in every classroom around the school.
  9. We are a friendly, private preparatory school in Ealing, West London with small class sizes, combining high-quality teaching with traditional values of courtesy and respect. Our dedicated team of staff nurtures, encourage, inspire and invest in each child. All can aspire to achieve their potential and flourish whether their talents are obvious, or initially more deeply hidden! The destination selective schools and scholarship offers of our Year 6 pupils are testaments to our success. Naturally, you want the best for your child. So do we. And just as children come in all shapes and sizes and one size does not fit all, so our approach to every child is tailor-made to their individual needs so we can bring out the best in them. With our small class sizes, we can achieve the home-from-home family atmosphere that has proved so successful in preparing our pupils for their secondary education and the world around them. We believe that learning should be fun and that children should love their school. We make this happen without losing sight of traditional values such as good manners, mutual respect, and kindness. These values are as important as anything else that we teach at Avenue House. But you don't need to take our word for it. On this website, you can read testimonials from families who have already experienced what Avenue House School has to offer, and many comments from our recent ISI inspection. Our professional, dedicated, and approachable staff are what make Avenue House School such a wonderful place to learn. Children are taught in small classes where they can develop an excellent work ethic and achieve high standards in academic and non-academic subjects. Assemblies are held on four mornings a week. As a non-denominational school, they are a time for reflection and children to learn about values of faith, hope, and kindness. They are also a time to celebrate the efforts and achievements of individual pupils and team successes (or near misses!) From Year 1 onwards, children are divided into four 'Houses' - St David, St George, St Patrick, and St Andrew. House points are awarded for achievement, effort, courtesy, kindness, and helpfulness. The ability to do homework is a vital skill. All children are provided with a homework timetable. Early homework is usually reading. Spellings form part of homework from Year 1. Pupils are closely monitored and subject teachers may use extension materials with some children where appropriate. Critical thinking is taught and challenges are set for the more able. Pupils are directed towards activities that will enable them to develop their talents which may be academic, sporting, creative, or musical. All pupils are expected to wear the correct school uniform which is kept as simple as possible. The school uniform supplier is Juniper Schools & Sports, 88 Pitshanger Lane, London W5 1QX .Form teachers are generally available to see parents before and after school. A meeting with the Headteacher is by appointment. Parental input is very important and we encourage parents to come into school to talk to the children on subjects of interest, to participate in activities, and to join us on school day trips and residential trips.
  10. The Avenue Nursery and Pre-Preparatory School is an independent private school in Highgate bordering Hampstead, Crouch End, Muswell Hill, and Finchley. It was founded in 1977 and became a member of the IAPS (Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools) in 2009. The school is situated in a quiet, residential street in Highgate, conveniently placed for easy access to the tube and local busses. It occupies a large, rambling Victorian house with a very large, spacious garden. The priority of our non-denominational School is the happiness and well-being of every child within a secure, friendly, and nurturing environment. We believe that children are our most valuable resource for the future and we are committed to providing an exciting and stimulating learning environment where every child is valued and encouraged to reach their potential. We achieve this by the introduction of a wide, varied timetable of extracurricular activities designed to inspire and challenge all our pupils. Music is an important part of the School’s provision with singing and the learning of a stringed instrument incorporated into the daily timetable. Drama, French, swimming, football, yoga, and ICT are all part of the curriculum at present. Offering a wide variety of timetabled activities available to all children regardless of their gender, race, religion, or family background benefits children in many ways. Our commitment to encouraging self-confidence, self-reliance, and self-esteem is underlined by the provision of these extracurricular activities. We also encourage independence of thought, the development of social and interpersonal skills, and a responsible attitude towards property and the environment. At The Avenue Nursery and Pre-Preparatory School, we are committed to providing the highest quality education for your child, inspiring their imagination and creativity within a caring and nurturing environment. Children are supported and challenged to reach their full potential in all areas, both academic and personal. Innovative teaching, an outstanding learning environment, and endless opportunities for adventure and discovery make The Avenue Nursery and Pre-Preparatory School a truly exceptional place for your child to begin their education. From the fun and creative play of early years learning, to the nurturing and preparing of children for the world beyond Year 2, The Avenue Nursery and Pre-Preparatory offers each child a unique and memorable learning adventure. The Avenue Nursery was founded by Mary Fysh and first registered in 1977, by the London Borough of Haringey, as a small child-minding group of 6 children. As the years progressed, the School outgrew its location in her home and moved into its current premises in September 1989 with a roll of 65 children aged from 2 1/2 years to 5 years. At that time, all children left the School after their Reception Year. The School was registered with OfSTED and was inspected regularly. A substantial building program was started in July 2000. A Hall, classroom, and library were added to the building, enabling us to extend our age range to include children to 7 1/2 years in Years 1 and 2. The School registered with the Department of Education as an Independent School in August 2004 and the first intake of Year 1 children commenced in September 2004. The following year the DfE inspected the provision at the school and confirmed its registration as an Independent School. OFSTED confirmed that the School was no longer required to be registered with the organization and the Ofsted registration was surrendered. The youngest children in the school are those that join us in the term they turn 3. They join a small class of approximately 8 children in the Autumn term. The class size increases in January and again in the Summer term. They enjoy the benefit of small class size in a nurturing environment, a gentle introduction to their school life. The children engage in a range of activities designed to develop their emerging skills in areas such as fine and gross motor control, social awareness, speaking and listening ability, and independence. This is valuable preparation for Morning Nursery the following September. We take the children throughout the year on stimulating educational school trips as they are a vital part of a child's education. The trips reinforce areas of learning and the enthusiasm it can bring a topic is immeasurable. The added benefit of important life skills like traveling safely as a group is highly valuable. These trips vary from year to year but may include trips to museums, galleries, and even the theatre. At The Avenue Nursery and Pre-Preparatory School, we aim to identify and encourage children who excel in one area of, or across the curriculum as a whole. The Avenue Nursery and Pre-Preparatory School is a non–selective school and as such we have a community of children who have varying skills and abilities. Some require additional support therefore we have a committed learning support team in-house that consists of our SENCO (specialist learning support teacher) and speech and language therapist. We believe early identification and intervention are the keys to future success. We have different levels of support that we can offer children that might require extra help. This ranges from in-class strategies, small group interventions, and one-to-one specialist teaching.
  11. View full school

  13. 16. View full school

View full school
