      1. Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi is a bilingual mixed comprehensive for 11-18-year-olds with an annual intake of approximately 90 pupils and the Sixth Form of about 120. It was established in1898, with the original school building still in use alongside many new buildings. The school serves a wide catchment area and is designated a naturally bilingual school, where pupils are taught through both the medium of Welsh and English. The school aims to develop all pupils to their full potential, academically, spiritually, physically, and socially. We pride ourselves on the fact that we create a caring atmosphere and ethos, where all pupils are treated equally and with respect. The school offers a wide variety of subjects, and very good external examination results are achieved. Great emphasis is placed on extra-curricular activities, and our pupils are given a host of opportunities to demonstrate and develop their skills. A wide range of activities and educational visits, both at home and abroad, provide rich and varied additions to the formal curriculum. Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi aims to provide a lively and friendly atmosphere where learning can flourish. Our guiding principle is for every student to succeed, and we believe that success is achieved through hard work. We also appreciate that learning is a social activity and that teamwork is fundamental. That is why we foster in the pupil's respect for themselves and others, encouraging co-operation and collaboration. Truly successful education is a partnership between school, pupils, parents, and our community, and we aim to develop a future generation who have the self-confidence to use their talents and skills for their benefit and that of the community in which they live. We aspire to enable pupils to develop their abilities and personal characteristics such as initiative, enthusiasm, leadership, perseverance, tolerance, commitment, and self-discipline. We share with parents and guardians the same aspirations for our young people – to be happy, safe, and successful, and we make every effort to offer our pupils the best academic education, pastoral care, and moral direction. A wide range of academic and extra-curricular provisions encourages pupil engagement and the development of our pupils’ skills and talents. View full school
      2. Ysgol Gynradd Gymunedol Aberteifi was established following the amalgamation of Cardigan Infant. School and Cardigan Junior school in September 2008. The School is located in the center of the market town of Cardigan. Children have admitted to part-time education the term after their third birthday and to full-time education the term following their fourth birthday. The school is a Wesh Medium Primary School in line with the guidance in ‘Defining schools according to Welsh-medium provision’, Welsh Assembly Government (2007). Refurbishment work to the school building was completed during the 2015 Summer Term. Work completed included the completion of a new corridor to join the infant and junior department, new toilets, new flooring, and new doors, and new windows to some parts of the building. The school was successful in achieving the third prestigious platinum award from the Eco-Schools program for their dedication and commitment to improving environmental and eco aspects within the school. This was due to the hard work of the school’s Green Council. The school set up the Green School Council to co-ordinate the following aspects: Healthy Schools Scheme, Global Citizenship as well as the Eco-Schools program. Cardigan Primary school is one of the few schools throughout Wales to achieve this award. The following aspects were noted as excellent by the assessors—” the enjoyment and dedication of the school towards the ethos of the Green Flag and in particular the international projects the whole school thematic approach to the curriculum and the outstanding use of the outdoors as a resource for learning. The pupils on the Green School Council are confident and very knowledgeable. The school is litter-free—Grade ‘A’ - well done!”. We are committed to providing all children with a high-quality inclusive education in a learning environment that promotes the development of all pupils, fostering an understanding of the world in which they live and an interest in their culture, heritage, environment, and the Welsh language in preparation for being lifelong learners.
