The Seven Hills School has roots reaching back to 1906, with the College Preparatory School's founding. In 1974, the College Preparatory School merger and the Hillsdale-Lotspeich School brought these learning institutions together to form the modern incarnation of The Seven Hills School.

At its core, our culture at Seven Hills celebrates human complexity. We love that we are all different. In our diverse, inclusive community, we learn to approach each other with open minds and compassionate hearts. We learn that each of us has unique potential and that the variations of that potential make each person's story worth exploring.

Through all the laughs and smiles, you see our students' personal stories unfolding right before your eyes in excitement and curiosity. Our Lower School students are becoming more self-confident by engaging in spirited classroom discussions. Our Middle School students are becoming more aware of the world around them and more eager to play a role in our school and their communities. Our Upper School students are preparing for wherever their story takes them next, passionate about emerging interests, and prepared to write their next chapter. All of our students are discovering their potential, their unique and unabridged stories.

In the end, we want our students to know who they are and whom they want to become. We believe that the best way to do this is to understand them as individuals so that we can help guide them down their distinct paths in life. Each student has unique gifts and dreams. That is why our expert teachers design a wide array of learning experiences to promote active inquiry and self-discovery.

The Seven Hills experience is not just an education. It is a journey of self-discovery. And it is our privilege to guide our students toward lives of purpose and fulfillment. Our love for and dedication to our students remain the same, no matter where in their story they may be. That is what sets us apart. At its heart, Seven Hills is a family. And we would love for you to become a part of it.

Seven Hills engages our students' hearts and minds, challenging them to develop their unique abilities and preparing each for a meaningful role in a rapidly changing world. Our values guide us. Our commitment to kindness, caring, and compassion are just as strong as our commitment to excellence. We want our students to take part in a community that both inspires and nurtures them. Here, they learn more than how to be good students. They learn how to be kind and confident people.

At Seven Hills, our educational philosophy drives everything we do. We believe, of course, in setting students up for a successful college career. But we also want to play a role in preparing them for the rest of their lives. That is why we intentionally model and teach our values to our students every day. At Seven Hills, we:

    • Believe that learning should be engaging and relevant.
    • Use teaching methods designed to ensure that students acquire the intellectual and social skills they need to thrive in an increasingly complex global community.
    • Focus not only on the acquisition of knowledge but also on inquiry, discovery, and skills to meaningful problem-solving.
    • Teach students to make choices, to manage their time, to think critically and creatively, and, above all, to take responsibility for their learning.
    • Are committed to exploring educational best practices and to adapting our instructional methods to advances in technology and developments in the world

At Seven Hills, our classrooms are open, nurturing, and highly participatory. Teachers guide students through a journey of self-discovery while getting to know their learning styles and interests. By giving students the freedom to explore and experience new things, we help them become confident in who they are and what they want to do.

We believe that who students are is just as important as what they know. That is why we explicitly model and teach our values to our students from a very early age. As they grow into their person, we strive to nurture their intellectual, moral, and social skills to become engaged, articulate, and responsible citizens of the world.

We want all of our students to become their best possible selves, unlocking their full potential to be active, engaged citizens, ready to lead and excel in a competitive global community. We have developed our deep and wide-ranging curriculum and programs to foster these attributes and habits of mind. Our commitment to these ideas defines Seven Hills today and drives our continuous progress and momentum model moving forward.
