Marine Military Academy is a college-preparatory boarding school for young men in grades 7-12 with an optional post-graduate year. Since 1965, MMA is the only private school in the world based on the traditions and values of the U.S. Marine Corps. Located in Harlingen, Texas, MMA has been home to thousands of sons from across the world and is quarters to the historic Iwo Jima Monument.

The school's home was to be in Prescott, Arizona, until Capt Gary and his supporters learned of a defunct military base in Harlingen, Texas. The former Air Force base was used to train combat navigators during World War II. The Marines envisioned this site as a campus for an all-boys, military boarding school. Capt Gary and his team then began structuring the educational laboratory that would develop today’s young men into tomorrow’s leaders. Capt Gary's son, William "Bill" Jr., was the first cadet enrolled.

On September 9, 1965, Marine Military Academy opened its doors to 58 cadets. Six of them would graduate that year and comprise the school's first-class, the Class of 1966. Today, MMA is home to young men from across the globe and the alma mater to thousands of alumni. MMA’s proven education model makes it among the world’s top boarding schools for adolescent males.

Marine Military Academy was founded on the belief that the United States Marine Corps' concepts of leadership and discipline could be successfully applied to a college preparatory education. MMA is a premier boarding school offering college preparatory and Marine Corps Junior ROTC programs to young men in grades 7-12, with an optional postgraduate year.

We administer positive guidance and instruction in a safe, structured environment removed from distractions that foster the growth of mind, body, and spirit and, ultimately, inspire transformation. Throughout a cadet’s journey here, he gains a solid academic foundation, earns the tools to find his path, and learns to take ownership of his future. Marine Military Academy Overview:
