"For many years, it has been a constant hope and dream that this area would be blessed with an outstanding Catholic day school for boys on the high school level." The above quote was written almost 60 years ago when plans were put to establish a Catholic high school for young men here in Monmouth County. Thanks to our founders' vision–John Henderson, Peter Fleming, and George Sheehan–along with the support of our benefactors, that dream became a reality. On September 14, 1959, six Brothers welcomed the first class of students to the Christian Brothers Academy.

Much has happened since that time. Along with our dedicated faculty and staff, the Brothers have offered a well-rounded education to over 11,000 young men. Our mission is to help the students become intellectually mature and morally responsible leaders in our Church and society. Our mission is:

    • To provide a contemporary and balanced Catholic education for academically able young men.
    • To cultivate, within each student, intellectual maturity and moral responsibility.
    • To build the leaders of tomorrow through programs of spiritual formation, culture, activity, and service.

    We Believe That:

    • The heart of the Academy community is that it is the spirit of association.
    • Our administration, faculty, staff, students, alumni, parents, and friends create the Academy experience.
    • Compassion rooted in the vision of St. John Baptist de La Salle is at the core of every facet of the Academy.
    • Effective education develops the entirety of human and Christian people.
    • Our curriculum will reflect the highest standards of pedagogy & technology.
    • Problem-solving, critical thinking, effective communication, reading & research skills beget success.
    • A culture of discipline empowers the development of responsibility, leadership, and personal growth.
    • Healthy interpersonal relationships develop during co-curricular programs, cooperative learning & social interaction.
    • A worldview that reflects the call of Catholic Social Teaching is vital to becoming morally conscionable.
    • Life-long learning is essential for living a more prosperous, fuller life.
    • A complete education based on religious values and morality is fundamental to sustaining a just society.

The Academy man strives for academic excellence, builds his faith, learns to serve others, and pursues his interests with diligence. We provide various activities he may choose from, all of which remain rooted in the Lasallian tradition. The totality of his undertakings as a CBA student come together to create "The Academy Experience," a life-changing journey that prepares him for every challenge he will face upon graduating.

The long-standing CBA motto "bring us your boys and we will return to you men" continues to ring true. During your four years, you will develop the foundation, vision, and skills to pave the way for college, careers, and life. We remain true to the mission of the LaSallian faith, basing our educational philosophy on the belief of education for all, and strive to provide a dynamic and diverse learning environment and community for our students. We focus on developing every aspect of the student through various activities both in and outside the classroom.

The CBA experience is both life-changing and lifelong. We balance tradition and vision, creating an environment where young men can learn about the world of today and tomorrow while drawing upon lessons of the past. Over the last 59 years, CBA has produced industry leaders, innovators, and community advocates. Each year, we continue to send our students to some of the nation's most prestigious universities where they continue to build on the foundation CBA has provided.

CBA prides itself on educating the entire person: spiritually, mentally, and physically. To accomplish this, our Student Life department moderators and supporters come together to provide our student body with an ever-growing number of extra and co-curricular activities. Each presents its opportunities for leadership, personal development, skill enrichment, and practical experience and learning. A dedicated team of club moderators works to provide everything from unique culinary experiences and cultural celebrations to guest speaker lineups and once-in-a-lifetime field trips.

All the while, our clubs, and activities focus on imparting Christian values: ethical decision-making, self-discipline, responsibility, and awareness of our global community. Our focus remains on creating tomorrow's leaders while helping facilitate the friendships amongst classmates that will last a lifetime.
