Located in the mountains of beautiful western North Carolina, Christ School is a private school that offers opportunities for boys in the classroom and on our 500-acre wooded campus complete with streams, a lake, and trails for hiking or mountain biking.
For 117 years, Christ School has been committed to fostering boys' growth – academically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. Our unique setting, nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains foothills and near the rich cultural hub of Asheville, is an ideal place for boys to develop their innate sense of courage and adventure while honing their intellect and creativity. Our faculty, coaches, and dorm parents – the majority of whom live on campus – serve as positive role models, dedicated to bringing out each boy's full potential.
Research shows that male students learn differently than female students. At Christ School, the classroom environment is geared toward the male learning style, setting students up for academic success. Students also have the freedom to pursue activities and interests without the social pressures that can occur in co-ed schools. Our boys grow to be dependable, tolerant, and confident men who are not afraid to fail and never shy away from challenges. They learn to have faith in themselves and the utmost consideration for the needs of others.
Christ School is a college preparatory school affiliated with the Episcopal Church. Our mission is to produce educated men of good character, prepared for scholastic achievement in college and productive citizenship in adult society. We achieve this mission through a four-fold process. First and most importantly, we challenge and encourage each student to develop academically to his maximum potential in the nurturing environment of a close-knit campus. Second, through competitive sports, student self-government, and various extracurricular activities, we help each student develop his physical fitness and leadership skills and respect for others regardless of their origins, cultures, or beliefs. Third, by involvement in our campus home's care, civic duty is learned, along with a sense of the dignity of honest labor. Finally, through religious instruction and regular participation in Chapel activities, each of our students learns the sustaining value of faith and spiritual growth throughout his life.
Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire all students to improve their thinking, writing, and problem-solving skills. Each student is encouraged to pursue the most rigorous course of study appropriate for him, including opportunities for advanced study in all disciplines.
Christ School's Innovation Lab allows students to explore their interests in an environment designed to imagine, plan, and execute exciting projects. From robotics to computer programming to design, there are no limits to what Christ School students can bring to life in the Innovation Lab!
The Learning Resource Program offers academic support in small-group classes. The Program's goal is to help capable students overcome individual differences and develop the strategies necessary to meet the Christ School curriculum's academic challenges with confidence. Integral to this support system is the student's willingness to be a productive, successful student, open to the techniques and strategies presented within the context of the Program.
