Cascia Hall Preparatory School

Students are prepared for college and life at Cascia Hall, a Catholic, Augustinian school for students of all faiths in grades 6-12. The Augustinian Values of Truth, Unity, and Love guide the faculty, staff, and student body in their daily lives. Cascia Hall seeks to educate the whole person by balancing challenging academics with excellent athletics, arts, and community service opportunities. With a student/teacher ratio of 9:1, students are related to as individuals, resulting in higher motivation and success levels.

College preparation begins in grade 6 with a seamless traditional liberal arts curriculum through grade 12. Each class is aligned year after year to create pathways for students to reach their goals. Students in grades 6-8 have opportunities to earn high school credit in math, science, and foreign language. Students in grades 9-12 can earn college credit in the extensive Advanced Placement program. College-level courses are available to upper-level students through concurrent enrollment. One hundred percent of Cascia Hall students matriculate to college following graduation. On average, seniors are offered more than $7 million in achievement-based scholarships. Our mission:

• To strive to live and teach the Gospel of Jesus while welcoming students of all faiths, and in accord with Catholic tradition to serve families of diverse socioeconomic strata.
• To meet the needs of pre-adolescent and adolescent students in a Christian community shaped according to the philosophical/theological principles and teaching of St. Augustine of Hippo (354-430 A.D.), as these have been transmitted and interpreted by the Augustinian Order through the centuries.
• To focus on the individual in the community, thus aiding each student in intellectual, physical, and spiritual growth, referenced ultimately to union with God.

The academic philosophy of Cascia Hall Preparatory School is based on the Latin School tradition of our earliest American schools. The Augustinians have nurtured this same tradition in the United States since Villanova College (now University) in 1842.

Cascia Hall seeks to educate the whole person, to encourage and develop an ongoing pursuit of the Truth, which leads to God, who is ultimate Truth. While maintaining a firm basis in this tradition, the Cascia Hall course of studies prepares students for an ever-changing world.

The Middle School introduces sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students to the heritage of the highly successful, traditional, liberal arts curriculum of Cascia Hall. The Middle School builds upon skills acquired in previous learning experiences and provides a foundation for future success. In keeping with the Augustinian mission to nurture the whole person, the Middle School provides a unique learning environment where students can mature, achieve success, be challenged with an appropriate curriculum, and develop their problem solving and critical thinking abilities. The Middle School also emphasizes the attitudes required to master academic success's intellectual and social skills. In particular, the administration, faculty, and staff strive to help each student develop self-motivation, self-discipline, self-responsibility for learning, pride and self-confidence, appreciation for diverse views and ideas, and respect for others.

The Upper School continues the same liberal arts tradition. As part of this tradition, the Upper School requires students to take English, math, science, social studies, and theology courses each semester. Cascia Hall's college-preparatory curriculum offers a balanced, well-rounded approach that allows each student to be prepared to study any academic discipline at any university. Even though students may differ in talent, aptitude, ability, and background, they are expected to progress each year and take the most challenging course available in each academic department. In keeping with the development of mind, body, and spirit, students are challenged academically, encouraged to participate in various school-sponsored activities and athletic programs, and given opportunities to practice their core values as members of a faith community. In short, Cascia Hall's academic philosophy strives to develop its students into lifelong scholars in pursuit of the Augustinian values of Truth, Unity, and Love.
