The University Academy of Engineering South Bank operates as part of South Bank Academies Multi-Academy Trust and is sponsored by London South Bank University, the Academy has the STEAM subjects Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Maths as the focus of the curriculum.
University Academy of Engineering South Bank is currently offering places to year 7-8-9 and 12 and for years 2017-2018 will be offering places to year 7-8-9 & 10 and post 16
STEAM skills are increasingly sought after. Our curriculum will prepare our students for further education or careers in the rapidly changing world. Today almost every organization relies on an employee with STEAM experience. Our university partnership will ensure that our unique education is employability-focused and creates confidence amongst all our students. We are extremely proud to be the first University-sponsored Academy in the area.

At the University Academy of Engineering South Bank, we believe each student is an individual the best way for one person to learn may not be true for another. There will be opportunities for students to try different styles of learning and discover what works best for them. Our timetable will be structured to include in-depth project-based learning providing the opportunity to work with a wide range of university staff, students, business and engineering partners. Our class sizes and teacher-to-student ratios will be flexible to ensure students get the best support they need. Purpose-designed ICT will motivate and engage our learners.
Moving on to secondary school is a big step for students and families. We’ve designed our Key Stage Three curriculum to build on the strengths of primary school teaching and learning to help our students settle into their new Academy. This will help them to make accelerated progress in Year 7 and 8.
Every student will have a ‘Community Leader’ who will take responsibility for their academic progress, personal welfare, and development as well as being the first point of contact for families.
The Key Stage Four curriculum will prepare our students for the future whether higher study or work-based learning, It will enable our students to gain the national expectation of 8 good GCSE grades (5 or better on the new GCSE 9-1 scale) including English and Maths. The vast majority of students will take the English Baccalaureate and triple science as standard is given our STEM ethos and will. Our students will also have the opportunity to apply their skills in a work environment and have close links to our academy sponsor London Southbank University.
All students will study the core curriculum subjects of Mathematics, English, Sciences (including Computer Science), Physical Education, and personal and social education. Each student will be carefully guided through the wide range of examination courses on offer.
Students at UAE are offered a rich STEM-based range of ‘A’ level and level 3 courses. Students are taught in relatively small classes to ensure that they receive the best possible opportunities and to maximize their potential. Students who meet their expected grade requirements* are automatically offered a university place at LSBU. Over the 2 years in the sixth form, all students will be given two weeks of work experience in their relevant field.
