Welcome to St Teresa of Lisieux Catholic Primary School. We are a busy but friendly school, with lots going on.
Our vision and values are at the core of everything we do at St. Teresa of Lisieux. They underpin our teaching and learning and provide an environment that prepares our pupils.
In St. Teresa of Lisieux, we aim to Love, Learn and Grow. "All things are possible when we love, learn and grow together". Our Values are Happiness, Friendship, Fun, Achievement, Excitement.
At St Teresa of Lisieux Catholic Primary School, we value the diverse ethnic backgrounds of all pupils and families and undertake a variety of events and lessons to celebrate these. We have found this approach to be enriching for all parties as it teaches tolerance and respect for the differences in our community and the wider world.
Underpinning all of this are a range of curriculum subjects that have strong links to the role of Britain in the global context. These themes will enable pupils to understand the role of British values in society including, democracy, the rules of law, individual liberty, and respect and tolerance of those with different faiths. As a whole school, we have celebrated the World Cup, with World Cup-themed sports days and fun events alongside food themes served by the kitchen.
We follow the ‘Come and See’ scheme, as advised by the Archdiocese of Liverpool and Wales. R.E. plays a central and vital part in the life of the school. The children are encouraged to recognize and appreciate the religious and spiritual dimensions of life appropriate to their age and maturity.
A daily literacy lesson takes place in each KS1 & KS2 class. Lessons may l have – Shared Reading, Whole-Class Teaching, Guided and Independent Reading, Independent Work.
Skills are developed through painting, modeling, model making, printing, and weaving. Opportunity is given to all children for development in the areas of gymnastics, games, movement, and mime.
From beautiful sunshine to wet and windy weather. The children went out in all weathers and enjoyed the activities. Our pupils looked for signs of spring and also sat in the observation station looking for birds. On Wednesday the children had to build a den to protect the animals. We had to work together in teams.
Children listen and respond to a wide range of music. They play musical instruments and sing a variety of songs adding accompaniments. We use the LA’s Resonate service to deliver excellent quality lessons.
A daily Numeracy lesson takes place in each class. Lessons will have oral and mental calculation work, and the main teaching activity. In D&T children are encouraged to solve practical problems, using knowledge and skills learned through topics.
