St Edmund Campion School was opened in 1975 as a Catholic Comprehensive School due to the amalgamation of St Agnes’ Grammar School, St Thomas of Canterbury School, and St Margaret Clitherow School on two sites. In 2004 following a major building program, the school settled on to its current site as a seven-form entry mixed comprehensive school. We are utterly committed to our Mission Statement ‘Achieving together through Christ’ with a strong ethos of valuing the individual together with care and respect for all members of our community within Christian values and the teachings of Jesus.
We have strong links with our feeder primary catholic and local community schools to ensure that there is a smooth transition between primary and secondary education which understandably can be very challenging for some students and parents. We have just over 1000 students in the school including the Sixth Form. The school places great emphasis on academic excellence to ensure that students of all abilities and social backgrounds achieve their full potential and we regularly send students to Universities all over the country as well as placing great emphasis on personal development. The school has high expectations for all staff and is committed to providing outstanding teaching and learning.
St. Edmund Campion School exists as part of a partnership of home, parish, and school, which together educate and pass on the Faith to our children.
Together we strive for every member of our community to achieve their full potential, academically, personally, and spiritually in the atmosphere of high-quality personal relationships. The basic rule is the fundamental commandment of Our Lord, ‘Love God and Love your Neighbour’ expressed in day-to-day activities in school through the offering of our prayer and work to God and courtesy and consideration to others.
As a Catholic Sixth Form Centre, our faith is at the heart of everything we do and our distinctive ethos is at the forefront of all you achieve, both inside and outside of the classroom. All Sixth Formers play an active part in building and sustaining our ethos through liturgy, assemblies, and charity work. In our Sixth Form, you can expect to receive high-quality teaching, outstanding pastoral care, and a wide variety of enrichment. We have an action-packed timetable for you and you can feel confident that your success and progress are our priority.
The Sixth Form offers you a fresh start and is an exciting time to focus on subjects that you have a real passion for and a desire to learn more about. Sixth Form life requires you to adopt a focused and responsible attitude to your learning. This involves managing your time effectively and playing an active role in your learning. You are important to us – as the role models in our House System our younger students will look up to you. You will be the leaders of our school community. This is the start of an exciting journey – one which we are looking forward to sharing with you.
