All classrooms are dominated by wooden shelves, displaying beautifully crafted Montessori materials for free choice. Montessori activities are graded from simple to complex, allowing each child to engage in activities that provide the right level of challenge and lead to concentration. The inbuilt control of error allows the child to correct himself, hereby learning from a very young age that mistakes are a means of learning, developing into fear-free learner personalities with a deep understanding of their talents.
From the moment they enter the classroom, all children at Rose House Montessori are given the right to freely dispose of their time throughout the day. Children have the opportunity to engage with activities as long as they choose there are no timetables or interruptions for extra classes. Children at Rose House Montessori have the freedom to choose their snack and lunch breaks whenever they feel hungry, need a rest, or would like to have a social time with their friends. Small group offers are available for free choice in the elementary class, children will be aware of workshop offers and can plan their day accordingly.
The adult in the Montessori environment leads the child with compassion and respect. Every child is treated with kindness and consideration children are encouraged to explore and question, and their remarks are listened to seriously and answered thoughtfully and courteously. Children's behavior is guided by clear and firm messages to help each child deal with their feelings and conflicts in acceptable ways. Our aim is not to punish the misbehaving child, but to help each child deal with his/her feelings and aggressions in acceptable ways.
Rose House Montessori provides all children with access to prepared outdoor environments and promotes children's connection to nature. Weekly education in nature sessions allows children to grow and develop being aware of nature as they explore nearby nature reserves or the school allotment.
