Pentland Field School is an all-through school for pupils aged 4-19 with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or a newly-introduced Education, Health and Care Plan. Pupils are stretched and challenged with a curriculum that enables and actively encourages them to be independent and to make a real contribution to their community.
Pentland Field School is proud to be part of the Eden Academy, a family of schools that work together under one Academy Trust, with access to a wide range of expertise and services. We are lucky enough to have an impressive building that promotes well-being and is conducive to learning. Another feature of the school is the deployment of specific support staff - Speech and Language Therapy Teaching Assistants - who ensure that pupil progress is optimized in their communication skills.
We aim to ensure that all of our pupils develop a real love for learning. Pentland Field is a unique school whose provision, both in the classroom and through therapy, is closely matched to the needs of our different types of learners, who all have the potential to enhance their existing levels of attainment, social learning, and language skills.
At Pentland Field we educate and support our pupils to become independent learners so that they can:

The curriculum has been designed for all the learners at Pentland Field School to ensure a fluid journey through Early Years, Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4. It allows all pupils to be inspired to explore their learning potential with increased engagement through a creative and thematic curriculum.
The curriculum supports all pupils in all age ranges and with all abilities and needs to become independent and successful learners. The staff work collaboratively to support and inspire the pupils, and are passionate about creating opportunities that encourage the children to learn and grow and become prepared for life after school."
Family Services supports families and promotes the well-being of our pupils by encouraging social activities and provides a network of assistance and advice. Our jointly-run service is an integrated element of the Eden Academy's approach to education and development and the service that we provide in each of our families of schools is specially designed to meet the particular needs of each school's pupils and their families.
At Pentland Field School we provide:
- A varied program of activities from trips out, and swimming sessions to holiday & after-school clubs such as yoga, film, summer games, and cooking
- An opportunity for our pupils to extend their experiences outside of the classroom
- Links for our parents and carers to a network of groups that offer ideas, activities & resources to try at home
- Training in parenting issues and coffee mornings for parents and carers
The children and young people are at the heart of everything we do so we aim to offer exciting activities outside of school hours that provide opportunities for the children and young people to experience new things and develop new skills with their friends.
