Each year group has a topic overview of the year which is matched to the Programme of Study for the National Curriculum or EYFS curriculum. The topics are reviewed at the end of the school year and any changes will be incorporated in the new school year. The yearly overview is broken down into medium-term plans or termly units of work to show progression, continuity, and development of basic skills. Each year group plans weekly activities from the medium-term plans. Class teachers adapt these plans to meet the needs of their class. The curriculum focuses on developing skills attitudes knowledge and social skills to foster collaboration of ideas and working together towards a common goal. Our curriculum also includes extra-curricular activities and promotes equality of opportunity.
We provide a range of extra-curricular activities to enhance pupils’ learning. These activities include trips linked to topics, after-school clubs – chess, art, music, ICT, football, Gymnastics, Taekwondo, drama, and ballet visiting theatre groups and other companies and presenters. Clubs help pupils to collaborate with pupils of different ages and abilities and to use some of the skills they have been learning at school.
