Holy Cross Catholic Primary School children are taught to live out the teachings of Jesus Christ. They learn to work independently, to share, and respect each other’s needs as they work alongside their peers. They are nurtured throughout their years here with the Gospel values of love, faith, justice, peace, and hope. We aim to instill in our children the importance of community so they are respectful and appreciative of those around them
Holy Cross School was opened in January 1975 to serve the Parish of Holy Cross. It is a very well maintained building situated between Sangley Road and Calverley Road in Catford. We have an open and friendly atmosphere within the School and parents are encouraged to become active in the life of the School through being a member of the PTA, a volunteer helper, or just a familiar face to greet each day.
We are a popular, oversubscribed, Catholic School committed to helping the children in our care achieve their true potential. We strive for excellence in all we do. The children, their families, and our parishioners work hard to create a wonderful, supportive and thriving community in the heart of South East London. We offer a caring environment for all our children from Nursery to Year 6 where each child is nurtured, cherished, and valued.
Our Ofsted inspection reported that “This is an outstanding school” “Pupils are excited about learning” (December 2016). Our RE inspection reported that “Holy Cross School is at the heart of the local community and is outstanding at providing Catholic education” (November 2016)
Our pupils achieve exceptionally well throughout the School. Our successes, however, go far beyond test results. Our children are confident and happy. They are encouraged to challenge themselves, to develop their skills and talents to be the very best they can. We celebrate every success and support every need. Holy Cross School is very well supported by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA). The PTA is very active, organizing many social and fund-raising functions throughout the year, for both parents/carers and the children. Parents of children in the nursery and school automatically become members. Members of the committee are elected each year but the P.T.A. welcomes all-volunteer help especially at the time of its biggest fundraising event, the annual International Evening.
