Our aim at Gladstone Park is to ensure that all children receive an exciting, relevant curriculum that fosters a life-long love of learning. We strive to enable all children to maximize their potential and develop pupils as confident, resilient, and emotionally literate individuals, fully prepared for their future life, ready to seize opportunities, and able to contribute meaningfully to the wider community.

At Gladstone Park, we wholeheartedly promote a stimulating and positive learning environment where all our children feel happy, safe, and valued as individuals. We recognize that this vision can only be achieved through a dedicated and committed partnership between staff, pupils, and parents and endeavor to create the ethos that allows this to flourish.

    Our school values are:

    • Determination (to do our best)
    • Service and Kindness
    • Peace and Forgiveness
    • Justice and Honesty
    • Responsibility
    • Respect and Co-operation

We are proud of our healthy school meals cooked on the premises by our staff. The varied daily menu includes a salad bar and fruit with a choice of sandwiches or cooked main meal and dessert. Our meat is Halal with a vegetarian option. KS1 pupils are entitled to have a free school meal. British values underpin the school values and curriculum. They are reinforced through our School Vision. At Gladstone Park Primary School we are completely committed to ensuring that our school is highly inclusive and that every member of our school community is valued and celebrated. We have a value for each half term which is explored in school assembly and explicitly examined in PSHE lessons.

Democracy is widespread within the school. Pupils have the opportunity to have their voices heard through our Pupil Council and Pupil questionnaires. Our school behavior policy involves rewards that the pupils vote on as a class group.

The importance of Laws, whether they be those that govern the class, the school, or the country, are consistently reinforced throughout regular school days, as well as when dealing with behavior and through school assemblies. Pupils are taught the value and reasons behind laws, that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities that this involves, and the consequences when laws are broken. Visits from authorities such as the Police Fire Service etc. are regular parts of our calendar and help reinforce this message.

Within school, pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for young pupils to make choices safely, through of provision of a safe environment and empowering education. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and advised how to exercise these safely, for example through our E-Safety and PSHE lessons. Pupils are given the freedom to make choices within the school.

Part of our school ethos and behavior policy has developed from our Core Values such as ‘Respect’, and pupils have been part of discussions and assemblies related to what this means and how it is shown. Posters around the school promote respect for others and this is reiterated through our classroom and learning rules, as well as our behavior policy.

This is achieved through enhancing pupils' understanding of their place in a culturally diverse society and by giving them opportunities to experience such diversity. Assemblies and discussions involving prejudices and prejudice-based bullying have been followed and supported by learning in RE and PSHE. The school has a ‘Language of the week’ linking to languages spoken by our EAL pupils. Members of different faiths, religions, or beliefs are encouraged to share their knowledge to enhance learning within classes and the school. Our Pupil Forums in particular show that this has been successful.
