Field End Junior School is a unique place. The School has an individual identity that combines traditional values with a modern vibrant vision. We are situated on Field End Road and within walking distance of Eastcote underground station and many bus routes. We have the most amazing outdoor and indoor facilities for children to learn and play. We provide a very stimulating academic curriculum, together with a strong tradition of music and many additional activities including, dance, drama, and sport.
We are a community and a true partnership between school and the families of the children we teach. Our school life is rich in opportunities to learn as individuals and as part of a strong, supportive environment. We are fortunate to have strong links with Field End Infant School. We are committed to the development of each child, to offer them the very best start to their formal education. The school, being on one level, promotes easy access for children with disabilities. There are several disabled toilet facilities. There are entrance and exit points throughout the school suitable for wheelchair users. The school has an accessibility plan which is regularly reviewed.
Throughout their time at our school, children have the opportunity to join lunchtime or after-school clubs offering many different activities which may vary from year to year. Parents and children are issued with a club newsletter at the beginning of every academic term which outlines details of all the clubs on offer, for example, football, netball, cricket, choir, tennis, dance, and gymnastics.
We have an active Pupil Voice which is made up of one representative from each class. The council meets regularly with the Headteacher to discuss a range of issues and to share the ideas and opinions from children across the school. Children also serve as playground buddies and we have a small team of award-winning Junior Road Safety Officers. All children are members of one of the school’s five houses and Year 6 Pupils are nominated House Captain and monitors at the start of each school year. We also elect a Head Boy and Head Girl each year along with deputies.
We have a range of rewards systems in place, including house points, merits, class of the week, and attendance awards. For a school to be a safe, ordered environment, discipline is essential. Clear limits are placed on the children for their safety and welfare through which they should become responsible for their behavior, adopt a caring attitude to others and care for the school as a whole. Staff base their control on fairness, friendliness, and firmness.
Our main priority is to ensure that every child's time at Field End is a happy one. However, there may be times when parents have particular concerns, in which case they should seek an immediate appointment with either their child's class teacher or Year Group Leader. If they are still not happy, they should make an appointment with a member of the Senior Leadership Team. Any complaint will be confidentially handled, evaluated, investigated, and, hopefully, resolved. If parents are still unhappy they should approach the governing board.
