Bromley Beacon Academy offers specialist mixed provision for children with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Our Orpington campus is specifically for 7-14-year-olds (Key Stages 2&3). The focus here is on developing core skills of literacy and numeracy, whilst offering a broad range of other curriculum areas to provide real interest for our students. Priorities have been identified by the Trust Board and the Senior Leadership Team, which are intended to address several key issues raised from both external inspections and rigorous self-evaluation. The identified objectives are intended to raise student attainment and improve rates of educational, social, and emotional progression through the pursuit of excellence in all school areas. To do this we demonstrate an uncompromising drive and commitment to the following priority points listed:
Effectiveness of leadership and management
- Promoting the consistent application of expectations and policy with all staff and students contributing to the development of the school
- Rigorous safeguarding procedures are maintained in daily practice by all staff and students and embedded for new staff and students
- To develop the value of the role of the Trust strategic group and Trust Board to ensure quality and consistency.
- To continue to develop our positive parent partnerships to enhance the home school collaboration
- Further, develop leadership roles and responsibilities across the school at all levels
Quality of teaching, learning, and assessment
- To improve the quality of teaching across all subject areas through planning and delivery that engages and drives the learning for individuals so a greater % of students make good or outstanding progress.
Personal development, behavior, and welfare
- All staff, students, and parents demonstrating a good understanding of the concepts and principles of SEMH and thus providing students with a therapeutic platform to achieve their full potential.
- Ensure the use of consistent behavior management strategies alongside delivering an appropriate and engaging curriculum and therapeutic support to improve students behavior and attendance
