We want children to learn well and to have fun while doing so at our school. We provide a rich diet of exciting experiences as they progress through our school, which harnesses their curiosity and fosters a love of learning about the world around us. We want children to leave our school with great memories that will last them a lifetime.
We know that children do best when they are supported at home and so we work very closely with our parents to ensure that our children can thrive during their time in our school and into the future.
In our school, we have the highest expectations in terms of children’s work, their conduct around school, their manners, and their behavior. Our children are happy to be at our school, make great progress, and achieve well and we are proud that they leave our school well equipped for the next phase of their education.
Belmont Junior School is a community school that was opened in 1955 it is a spacious two-story building surrounded by a hard surface playing area. The school caters to children between the ages of seven and eleven years. Children are taught in year group classes.
The site is shared with Belmont Infant School with whom close contact is maintained on all educational and administrative matters. Children must apply to be admitted to the Junior School in the September following their seventh birthday and we aim to make the transfer from Infant to Junior School as smooth as possible.
As Belmont pupils are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school, we educate and provide boundaries for your pupils to make informed choices, through a safe environment and an empowering curriculum.
We promote our school anti-bullying policy through PHSE, drama, workshops, and school assemblies. Pupils are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms through circle time and the school PHSE curriculum. Pupils are continuously advised on how to exercise their freedoms safely through the school e-safety program and PHSE curriculum.
Mutual respect is at the heart of Belmont's ethos and values. Pupils learn that their behaviors affect their rights and those of others. All members of the school community treat each other with respect.

Belmont is a richly diverse school. We actively promote diversity through our celebrations of different faiths and cultures. Religious educations and PHSE lessons reinforce the message of tolerance and respect for others. Members of different faiths and religions are encouraged to share their knowledge to enhance learning within classes and the school.
Our school curriculum consistently encourages educational visits to different places of worship. Themed assemblies teach children about customs and practices of other faiths.
