Welcome to Belmont Infant School. Belmont Junior and Infant schools are next-door neighbors within the same site and so we work very closely together to make sure that we provide the best possible start to your children’s education.

We want children to have fun learning at our school. We provide a rich diet of exciting experiences as they progress through our school, which harness their curiosity and foster a love of learning about the world around us. We want children to leave our school with great memories that will last them a lifetime.

In our school, we have the highest expectations in terms of children’s work, their conduct around school, their manners, and their behavior. Our children are happy to be at our school, make great progress, and achieve well and we are proud that they leave our school well equipped for the next phase of their education.

Belmont Infant School is situated in a pleasant and quiet environment. We have plenty of green space and play areas for our children to enjoy. We value highly our richly diverse community and we offer a caring, inclusive ethos where each child is valued as an individual and encouraged to be the best they can. We aim to nurture the whole child and provide a happy, secure, and exciting learning environment.

We aim to give children the opportunity to experience the very best possible start to their education.

Early years’ education is a distinct and valuable phase. The Foundation Stage sets high expectations and standards for Nursery and Reception children. It will underpin all future learning by supporting, fostering and promoting, and developing children’s:

    • Personal, social, and emotional development
    • Communication, language, and literacy skills
    • Mathematical development
    • Knowledge and understanding of the world
    • Physical development
    • Creative development

We welcome the fact that our children come from a community rich in cultural and ethnic diversity and we value their contributions to our school. Also, we are privileged to be in partnership with the Vale Inclusion Scheme which provides mainstream education for children with physical disabilities. The scheme promotes awareness and respect for each other and an understanding of difference and disability.

Safeguarding is the action that is taken to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.

    For our school, safeguarding means:

    • protecting children from abuse and maltreatment.
    • preventing harm to children’s health or development.
    • ensuring children grow up with the provision of safe and effective care.
    • taking action to enable all children and young people to have the best outcomes.

Good school attendance improves your child’s chance of achieving their full potential. Reducing absence is a key priority nationally and locally. This is in line with government initiatives such as the Healthy Schools Programme and Improving Attendance and Reducing Persistent Absence.

Children who attend school regularly are more likely to achieve at school and reach their full potential. Missing school disrupts school routines and learning. The most common reason given for children to miss school is an illness, however, most of the time childhood ailments can be managed in school.
