The history of Big Heart Christian School was begun by the opening of the Hanmaum kindergarten in 1993. After a highly successful 10 years with a kindergarten program, parents requested an expansion of the education system expressing dissatisfaction with the current Korean education system.
Realizing that fostering future talents based on the Bible is the only solution to the educational problem, several church leaders and myself established BHCS, in March 2005. There has been tremendous development at BHCS, not only the numerical size of the school but also with a high-quality English curriculum. We began with just 6 students and 2 teachers. As God blessed the school, the student enrollment increased and we hired additional teachers with native English speaking abilities. Since its beginning, another big strength has been a low student-to-teacher ratio in our classes.
The educational objectives of Big Heart Christian School may be summarized as a nine bullet paradigm targeting a quality Christian Education as follows:
- God-oriented education: An education that acknowledges God’s will through the power of prayer and dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
- Future-world education: An education that acknowledges God’s will through the power of prayer and dependence upon the Holy Spirit.
- Bible-based education: An education that is based upon God’s special revelation in the context of emerging world knowledge.
- Individually-adjusted education: An education that is formulated upon the needs of the student both in character and in talent.
- Nature-friendly education: An education that gleans from God’s general revelation as revealed through His creation plan for mankind.
- Relationship-based education: An education that focuses on an integrated relationship between God, teacher, parents, students, and others.
- Experience-based education: An education enhanced by real-life experiences.
- Unified education: An education that integrates school-wide instructional strategies with practical pedagogy and links with other educational institutions.
- Autonomous education: An education that produces self-motivated, Christian worldview learners who contribute to mankind.
BHCS is a member of the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). We seek experienced, highly qualified, and certified faculty and administrative staff who are not only capable but who also have a passion and value for genuine Christian Education.
