Welcome to the American International School of Jeddah. At AISJ, we are committed to the mission of inspiring and facilitating learners through an authentic American education to nurture their passion for knowledge, so they may pursue their dreams and become successful global citizens. We believe in developing the intellect and character of each student so that they will be prepared, confident, and excited to enter the diverse, ever-changing world of tomorrow.

A significant source of strength for us is our community. As an independent, non-profit school, we rely on the support of this community to help us achieve our mission and vision. We are lucky to have a passionate, dedicated group of staff, students, parents, and friends who share the common purpose of seeking out the best for our children and their future. We believe in the development of the Whole Child and are committed to providing an environment in which this is not only possible but also probable.

AISJ is now on the cusp of an exciting new chapter. For the past several years, we have been working towards the construction of a new, state-of-the-art campus and this project has finally come to fruition. We will be operating out of our new home for the 2018-19 school year. In line with our vision, our new campus will further distinguish us as a learning community committed to excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

Established in 1952, the American International School of Jeddah is the U.S. accredited Pre-K-12 college preparatory institution. We offer a rigorous American-based curriculum serving a diverse student body through a holistic approach. Our mission is to inspire and facilitate learners through an authentic American education to nurture their passion for knowledge, so they may pursue their dreams and become successful global citizens. Our vision is to be a distinguished learning community committed to excellence, innovation, and collaboration. We believe that:

    • Respect cultivates positive relationships.
    • Honesty and integrity build a culture of transparency and trust.
    • Helping other benefits communities and leads to personal growth.
    • Embracing cultural diversity develops relationships and enriches life.
    • Passion and commitment motivate, inspire, and empower life-long learners.
    • Quality education has the power to make a positive impact on individuals and societies.
    • A school community thrives when there is open communication and collaboration.

AISJ provides an authentic, standards-based American education based on the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) Common Core Plus standards, a widely used international set of rigorous standards.

At AISJ, we define curriculum as the knowledge, skills, and understandings that students are expected to learn. Our AISJ faculty works as a collaborative team to develop each content area curriculum by using organizational tools such as Rubicon Atlas. We follow a widely recognized curriculum design framework, Understanding by Design, to prioritize enduring understandings and transferable skills for students. To ensure a high-quality curriculum, AISJ has established a Curriculum Review process. We examine each subject area in depth once every 5 years to make sure that the curriculum is up-to-date and reflects our changing world.

The AISJ elementary school is firmly rooted in the belief that learning is built upon a strong foundation. We are committed to the development of the Whole Child, providing a balanced program that addresses children’s social, emotional, and academic development.

We aim to make learning relevant and meaningful to students by adopting an inquiry-based, integrated curriculum that focuses on the child as a learner. We recognize that children come to us as distinct individuals with unique experiences, backgrounds, abilities, and interests.

Middle school is an essential time in our children’s lives as they begin to transition into becoming young adults. In middle school, we carefully blend caring relationships with responsibility and reflection, ensuring that each day your children are at AISJ, they will not only be learning their academic skills, but also the interpersonal skills of teamwork, personal responsibility, academic integrity, community awareness, and social justice.

The AISJ high school is "a community of passionate learners, developing a culture of discovery and excellence to impact our world for the better." This is who we are and what we do. While the bulk of our teachers come from North America, we hail from all around the world and provide students with a safe and diverse learning environment. Within the classroom, students are presented with opportunities to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways from project-based learning to traditional paper and pencil exams. We also recognize the importance of technology and the reality that computers, handheld devices, and the internet are all valuable resources and should be embraced as we move ever more quickly from today into the future. Each teacher and class of students creates a blended environment of in-class and online instruction. We are a one-to-one school, and every student has the necessary hardware and electronic resources at their fingertips all the time, enabling them to integrate the use of technology into their learning experience seamlessly.
