IDRISSI International School is an innovative international school developed in 2015 that offers a unique curriculum where the British international syllabus is infused with life values and eco-awareness. Our homely and comfortable learning environment provides students aged 4 up to 17, get closer to nature by getting them involved in our farm patch, where they care for the plants and feed the farm animals, all in the name of learning.
IDRISSI main goal is to nurture our children into wholistic individuals by integrating the knowledge and values that are sustainably and environmentally minded. Thus, we believe that academics is not all children need. At IDRISSI, we incorporate education with community skills, character development, humanities experience, environmental consciousness, and a sense of adventure to be the very best in their life.
IDRISSI School is a community within a community. We teach a three-sided partnership where teachers, parents, and students assume a shared responsibility to make the school a success and to develop wholesome children. We draw upon the strengths and talents of parents – the original home educators – to create a positive impact and outcome on our student’s learning.
Parents are encouraged to engage with the teachers, provide feedback, volunteer at school, and collaborate with the community. We encourage parents to attend school events, children’s performance, chaperone school field trips, enrich our curriculum by sharing their experiences and skills, and assist our teachers and staff in numerous ways. Building upon this partnership allows parents to have a deeper bond with their children and a more meaningful relationship between the school and parents in shared decision-making and school improvement efforts.
Hence, our yard is an extension of the indoor learning classroom, brought out to the open air. We do compost, care for our pet goats and chickens, and recycle waste materials. Meanwhile, the basketball, futsal, and football courts offer the children the chance to run around before, after, or in between classes.
Just like at home, our kids leave their shoes at the door. They run sock- or bare-footed in our classrooms. Caring for the school houseplants before class starts are our daily ritual. So too, are the congregational solat in the common area. Gardening, cooking, and art are on equal footing with our math and science curricula. In short, we make our school homely and education a joy.
