We guarantee our compliance with the French programs while keeping in mind this quality requirement, which is reflected in the implementation in the network of the reforms and guidelines adopted by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, and Research, adapted to local contexts. It fits in particular within the framework defined by the law on the foundation of the School and aims at the inclusion and success of all students. It is based on the implementation of an innovative and ambitious teaching policy in terms of knowledge and skills acquired by pupils certified by language assessments and certifications (Cambridge, DELF, DELE, and soon BIPA and HSK). We are also very committed to plurilingualism and personalized language courses. English, as well as Spanish, Chinese, and German, are honored as early as grade 6 (10 years). The Indonesian is not forgotten and benefits the pupils from the primary classes (from 6 years).
we are convinced that the educational offer proposed to families must include the need for personalized support for each student in the development of his / her training path and the development of his or her study project. We are preparing for the French Baccalaureate in the English European section (100% in 2015, 47% in "Very good"), and propose the three general paths to meet the diversity of students and their expectations and competencies: Literary), ES (Economics and Social) and S (Scientific).
Situated in south Jakarta, the French school came into being under the initiative of parents in 1975. The school developed gradually into an international school, despite the 1998 Indonesian financial crisis. Weakened by the crisis, but with greater experience, a strong team, and a dedicated French community, the school gradually got back on its feet and, in 2008, took on the name « Lycée International Français Louis-Charles Damais » - the name under which the school is known today. Under the French Embassy, the school is now called Lycée Français de Jakarta Louis-Charles Damais (LFJ). LFJ is part of the AEFE network.
Louis-Charles Damais (Paris, 1911-Jakarta, 1966) was a researcher at the Ecole Française d'Extrême-Orient. Fascinated early on by foreign languages, he was enrolled at l'École Nationale des Langues Orientales. His exceptional gifts were soon obvious: he obtained six degrees (Persian, Oriental Arabic, Standard Arabic, Turkish, Malay, and Chinese) and also spoke Hungarian, Dutch, English, Russian, and Italian, as well as studying Sanskrit.
