Great Lakes Christian High School (GLCHS) is a grade 9-12 secondary school located in Beamsville, Ontario, between Toronto and Niagara Falls. We are a ministry-inspected residential and day school with over 65 years of service. GLCHS is a welcoming community where lifetime friendships are formed. It is an ideal environment for you to grow and feel safe — dedicated teachers challenge you academically, caring dorm parents make you feel at home, and our small student body allows for plenty of opportunities to get involved. GLCHS delivers education in an intentionally Christian environment from a Biblical worldview.
At GLCHS, we are committed to ensuring that spiritual formation is not just an add-on to our program. All instruction is delivered from an intentional and overt Christian worldview. Although we offer specific Bible study opportunities and community worship, the Bible is taught across all subjects and in all classes. Our staff and faculty are committed not just to living for Christ but also to model in their everyday encounters what it means to follow Him. Our small size means more opportunities to engage students one-on-one to provide both academic support and spiritual encouragement.
At Great Lakes Christian High School (GLCHS), we care about your academic success. We want to give you the educational tools you will need to succeed in higher education and life. We offer small class sizes and low teacher-student ratios to give you the individualized attention you may need. The average class size at GLCHS is 20 students, and our teacher-student ratio is 1:12. Our highly qualified teaching staff both support and challenge you to do your best academically. They are available outside of class for extra tutoring to help you meet your academic potential.
In recent years our university acceptance rate has been 100%, and over 90% of our graduates continued with post-secondary education the following school year. GLCHS offers courses at different levels to suit your needs during high school and your goals after high school. Our co-op program provides you with valuable work experience in various locations – local businesses, non-profits, schools, and even political offices. Great Lakes graduates have gone on to be highly successful business people, teachers, health professionals, lawyers, and workers for various trade careers.
As a small residential school, GLCHS has a rich and robust student life that includes activities beyond typical after school programs. Students find themselves playing pick-up basketball or badminton in Open Gym, participating in devotionals, Bible studies, or prayer time, conveniently meeting for group projects, or relaxing together in one of the standard rooms over a game of foosball or ping pong.
High school is much more than academics. Since Great Lakes Christian High School has a smaller student body, it is easy to try new things! There are plenty of extra-curricular opportunities for all and several ways to get involved. Some of your best memories in high school could be made while traveling with the chorus, planning for a winter banquet, or working behind the scenes for a dramatic production.
