A leading national and international expert on gender and education, Professor Judith Gill's (School of Education, University of South Australia) research clearly shows that the differences within boys' groups and the differences within girls' groups are much more significant than the differences between boys and girls. The individual difference, rather than gender difference, is critical.
Success in all fields of endeavor within a school is due to the successful interaction between highly committed teachers, good quality leadership, and equally supportive parents. The Primary School is a lively, caring community where students enjoy learning and exploring the world around them. It is a welcoming, Christian environment where personalities grow, and lifelong friendships are made. Our Positive Behaviour Support program (PBS) helps each student consider their behavior and attitudes through a continuum of expectations: We are Safe, We are Learners, We are Caring, We are Respectful. These ideals apply to every aspect of life as a GRG student.
Our students learn the value of forgiveness and the critical step of moving on from hurt and conflict. The aim is for students to grow into happy, enthusiastic learners. Students attend weekly Chapel services and weekly assemblies where academic achievement and excellence in behavior is acknowledged with awards.
Our focus on learning at Georges River Grammar is sparked by the skills and abilities that the individual student brings into the classroom and aims to prepare students for the dynamic and challenging world they will enter post-school. Teaching and learning programs must address the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) mandatory curriculum; however, it is essential to develop students' capacity and motivation to learn.
Through our holistic approach, we encourage students to take responsibility for their learning to appreciate the importance of learning as a lifetime commitment. Programs also need to focus on developing leadership skills, problem-solving skills, creative thinking, digital literacy, and other enterprise skills that will serve the students well in the future of their choosing, whether it be engaging in further study or entering the workforce.
Our academic programs are designed to be complemented by the initiatives in the Student Wellbeing and Cocurricular Programs to best serve students at a time when students are undergoing significant changes in their physical, intellectual, social, and emotional development.
