Children at Carnarvon Christian School (CCS) are taught that we are all part of God's grand narrative. Paraphrasing what one Christian writer stated, "God has given us a Story to live in, and we need to learn to apply ourselves to the Story rather than the other way around applying the Bible to our worldview."
Children are taught that the Scripture is not only a story of power but a story of love – genuine love, overflowing love for the world God has made. We prepare children not to live in a Christian bubble but to engage the culture and impact the world. Our response should be as it is written in Mark: 12:30 "…Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength."
We all view the world through our cultural lens, so it is essential to teach children that we all have beliefs, biases, and underlying assumptions that influence our actions. Other cultures are studied, and children become aware of their prejudices as they compare and contrast their way of life to others. Indeed, the upper primary children are allowed to go to Sulawesi in Northern Indonesia every second year, visiting local schools, villages, and orphanages. This fantastic trip opens the students' eyes and gives them a genuine appreciation of the world beyond our doorstep.
We at CCS take the overarching Vision of the National Safe Schools Framework seriously "All Australian schools are safe, supportive and respectful teaching and learning communities that promote student wellbeing." We take pride in the fact that 100% of the respondents to our school survey either agreed or strongly agreed that their child feels safe and likes attending school every day.

Mission Statement and Goals In partnership with families, Carnarvon Christian School aims to provide an all-encompassing education in the light of God's Word. Students will be encouraged to develop positive relationships and their God-given talents as they grow towards Christian maturity.
The Vision of a Christian school in Carnarvon (CCS) led to a public meeting in July 1992, and the wheels were put into motion. On 31 January 1995, Carnarvon Christian School embarked on its Christ-centered educational journey commencing with one teacher and seventeen pupils who met together in a church hall.
There were initial setbacks, and CCS nearly closed due to teething difficulties, but the unseen hand of our wonderful Lord was at work during this sifting and shaking up process. Through the wisdom of a dedicated School Board and the sacrifices made by many people, including a volunteer teacher, the school not only survived but grew in number.
In 2003 we were blessed to purchase our current block of land, which is found less than l kilometers from Carnarvon's town center. In 2004 we shifted to our new purpose-built school on this property with three teachers and 40 children. The world financial crisis and the Australian Government's response in 2010 with "the Building Education Revolution" led to building a large school hall, complete with a canteen and library. This landmark building put CCS on the map and signified to the community we were here to stay.
Since that time, our school population has steadily grown to its current population of 150 students with six full-time teachers and education assistants, and ancillary staff.
