Our school is unique in many ways, but foremost we provide a Montessori education using the Montessori philosophy. For those children in primary and middle school, this is also blended with the Australian Curriculum. It is an inspiring educational environment that empowers individuals to realize their full potential.
Here at Brisbane Montessori, we aim to provide children with an educational foundation from which they can fulfill their potential, developing independence, social and critical thinking skills. The program is centered on the child and encourages the development of personal responsibility, critical thinking processes, independence, and fosters a love of learning.
Families choose a Montessori School for educational and child development reasons. The approach to education is based on a scientific understanding of how a child develops and learns. Educationally the child is at the center of their learning at their own pace with scope to pursue their interests. The integrated Curriculum and multi-age classrooms provide the student with a place where children love to learn.
Children’s development of self-awareness and enjoyment of differences allows them to experience inner peace and discover who they are in the world.
If you are reading this because you are interested in pursuing a Montessori education for your child, I encourage you to consider booking to attend our Tuesday tours. You are also invited to attend our Montessori Explained Seminars, which we run once a term. You can find out more information about these here. Alternatively, if you are a parent or friend of our current community, I invite you to stay up to date with our school news and events through our Pathways newsletter or our Facebook pages. Your interest and contribution are valued.
The Brisbane Montessori School was incorporated as a company in 1981 following the vision of a group of five dedicated parents. They shared a dream of providing a Montessori Primary School education for their children.
In 1982 the Brisbane Montessori School commenced a primary school program with one voluntary teacher and five children whose first classroom was the verandah of an old Queenslander.
In November 1989, a milestone in the history of the school was achieved. After seven years in various temporary premises, our school occupied the first stage of its own new and permanent home at Fig Tree Pocket. The school was formally opened by the Lord Mayor of Brisbane and in 2012 celebrated our 30th Anniversary. Since these modest beginnings, our school has grown to be one of the largest Montessori schools in Australia.
