EY GDS - Strategy and Transaction – Restructuring -Assistant Manager

Within SaT, the Restructuring services helps clients deal with different forms of threats including economic change, competitor innovation, capital constraints, operational challenges, etc.

The EY global network of restructuring professionals, along with our transaction and sector professionals, have experience with some of the largest and most complex in and out-of-court restructuring situations. We work with a variety of stakeholders to provide leadership and actionable advice to identify financial and operational strategies to generate liquidity, improve earnings and extract value across underperforming, stressed and distressed businesses.

The opportunity

We are looking for Assistant Manager with expertise in financial restructuring services, performance improvement, insolvency and bankruptcy, distressed M&A etc. to join Restructuring team. Your key responsibilities

• Support turnaround, restructuring and optimisation engagements across corporate and financial services clients.
• Analyze financial, operational and workforce data to identify performance improvement opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
• Assess business performance, cost structures, organizational effectiveness and operating models to identify value creation levers.
• Develop and review financial models, business plans, cash flow forecasts and scenario analyses to support transformation and restructuring initiatives.
• Conduct operational diagnostics, benchmarking analyses and root-cause assessments to identify areas of underperformance and improvement.
• Support large-scale transformation programmes, including operating model design, organization design, workforce optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
• Assist clients in delivering sustainable improvements in profitability, liquidity, productivity and operational efficiency.
• Perform market, industry and competitor analysis to support strategic reviews and transaction-related assignments.
• Collaborate with FSO leadership on go-to-market initiatives, opportunity identification and business development activities across financial institutions and stressed asset situations.
• Prepare client-ready reports, presentations and executive-level recommendations while managing engagement teams and ensuring high-quality delivery.

Skills and attributes for success

• Experience in turnaround and restructuring, performance improvement, operating model transformation, organization design, value creation, cost optimization, transaction support or financial services transformation.
• Strong understanding of financial statements, business performance drivers, profitability analysis and operational improvement methodologies.
• Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, including business case development, financial modelling and benchmarking.
• Ability to identify risks and opportunities, synthesize findings and develop practical, data-driven recommendations.
• Strong project management and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across cross-functional and global teams.
• Demonstrated ability to engage with senior client stakeholders and present complex findings in a clear and concise manner.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing executive presentations and board-level materials.

To qualify for the role, you must have

• Chartered Accountancy/ MBA in Finance from a premiere institute  
• 5-7 years of PQE in: 
• Management Consultancy firms, preferably Big 4 or financial analytics firms
• Large Indian corporates with exposure in restructuring activities, analytics, financial modelling and corporate finance role
