An international school for girls and boys aged 3-18, The British School in The Netherlands is a thriving community of 80+ nationalities. We encourage high aspirations and challenge our students – supporting them as they learn and grow into confident individuals. We offer a British and international curriculum, with a General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) examinations and four pathways from the age of 16 - A-Levels, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Baccalaureate Career Programme, and BTEC qualifications. Our students go on to study at universities all over the world.
In re-imagining international education, the BSN will prepare its community to be confident citizens and leaders in tomorrow's world - always curious, pioneering, and changing. To deliver academic excellence and create inspiring places for children and young people to learn and grow into confident individuals. To build on the proven quality of the British curriculum while fostering an international perspective.
Within a creative and disciplined environment, we encourage high aspirations and challenges for the whole individual – 'head, hand, and heart'. We are the only school in Europe to offer a full British and International curriculum. With GCSE examinations and four exam pathways from the age of 16 (A levels, the IBDP, IBCP, and BTEC qualifications), our students can choose to study anywhere.
'The BSN has offered an international education since 1931. It is now one of the largest and most successful international schools in Europe, with a hugely diverse student community representing nearly 90 nationalities. 'We welcome children and young people from all over the world, and our vibrant international community is the very heart and spirit of our school. We are proud of our students and what they achieve and share with them a pride in our school. 'We want our students to be happy, creative, and motivated, and our mission is to encourage high aspirations and challenge through a broad education that responds to global challenges.
The BSN is located in The Hague, in the heart of the Netherlands. We have three Junior Schools for children aged 3-11 and two Senior Schools for our older students aged 11-18. The Senior School Leidschenveen started in September 2018 with the first cohort of Year 7 students. Our Junior Schools are situated in the Mariahoeve and Leidschenveen areas on the outskirts of The Hague. The Senior School in Voorschoten is located in a green, residential area with excellent rail and transport links to the neighboring towns of The Hague, Leiden, and beyond to Hoofddorp and Amsterdam. The Leidschenveen Senior school is located in the residential Leidschenveen area, on the same site as Junior School Leidschenveen.
All five of our locations' schools are a world-renowned British curriculum, and the Senior Schools offers a choice between International Baccalaureate (IB) Programmes and A-Level examinations. We aim to enable our students to leave The BSN and head for the college of their choice and many of the world's leading universities
