With the current revolution in information and telecommunications technologies, our students can access most scholarly and research information in digital formats. Older items that cannot be located digitally are available through inter-library loan. Items that cannot be located in the collection are available through inter-library loan. Our online students learn how to access and use the vast resources available to them—anytime and anywhere. Internship, student teaching, and field experience activities are designed to be compatible with the U.S. school system. In order to ensure appropriate supervision and equivalent experiences, students must complete all field experiences and internship activities in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. To best support students as they complete their internship, student teaching, and other field experiences, the American College of Education requires all students to complete these requirements in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. Students with exceptional circumstances (such as working at a Department of Defense School) may apply for a Clinical Experience Exception Approval. American College of Education does not offer visas or other types of work permits. Securing any necessary authorization is the responsibility of the student. All admitted students must be eligible to work within and agree to complete all requirements in the United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands. At times, students may decide to change to a different degree program, change their course of study within their current program, or change to a student-at-large. A degree program is defined as a series of prescribed courses that lead to a degree. A course of study is a designated sequence of courses, which are focus areas within a degree program. Students seeking a change of program, course of study, or change to student-at-large status must meet the new program's admission requirements.
