Iona Preparatory School is a Catholic community inspired by the charism of Blessed Edmund Rice, as expressed in the Essential Elements of a Christian Brothers Education. We develop young men into moral and ethical leaders who are dedicated to Christian service and strive for spiritual, intellectual, and physical excellence.

What high school your son attends is one of the most important decisions you will make as a parent. Today, families are concerned with affordability. However, when you understand the benefits of a Catholic school, you will conclude that money, although necessary, should not be your first concern. Catholic schools hold students accountable to high standards of behavior and performance. Parents should look for a school that works in partnership - a “shared mission”- with the family, something that Catholic schools are committed to doing.

• We are Christ-centered through the teachings of the gospels. Students learn to give back by giving themselves - to classmates, to the school, to the community.
• We are a “Good Fit,” with a population of 750 young men and a faculty of 67, and a student/faculty ratio of 11:1.
• We have a Curriculum that offers courses with honors, accelerated sections, and Advanced Placement [college level] courses.
• We have a caring, diverse, supportive Faculty with an average of 18 .1 years of experience, with 85% holding advanced degrees and who are dedicated to knowing their students in and out of the classroom - 70% are coaches and teachers.
• We have Campus Facilities that span 21 acres with state of the art fields and learning environments - Separate buildings for art and music, new science labs, natural and turf athletic fields, a full fitness complex, and two all-purpose gymnasiums.
• We have been on the cutting edge in the area of Technology as the 1st male college prep school to integrate computers across the disciplines, using Internet2 high-speed access across the campus. Students and parents keep abreast of academics in real-time with Edline.
• We offer Co-curricular Involvement that includes 15 interscholastic teams and intramural opportunities to play at every level, including football, soccer, and ice hockey; we offer Other sport choices include crew (rowing), lacrosse, wrestling, football, baseball, volleyball, tennis, golf, and two co-ed teams - swimming and three seasons of track and field with area girls’ schools.
• We graduate 100% of our Seniors to many of the more selective four-year colleges, and universities with more than 50% of every graduating class awarded college academic scholarships based on SAT’s and GPA’s. Also, several graduates go on to play NCAA college athletics.
• We have more than 8,000 proud, successful adults who call themselves “Iona Men,” many of whom hold prominent positions in the fields of business, law, education, sports, media, and medicine.

The primary focus at the Iona Preparatory School is to nurture and empower young men by teaching the faith, building community, serving others, and pursuing excellence. Iona Prep accepts students with the academic potential to succeed in a rigorous college-prep program and is willing to challenge themselves in various academic and extracurricular pursuits.

Iona Prep graduates have been accepted and are attending such schools as Dartmouth, MIT, Johns Hopkins, College of the Holy Cross, Georgetown, Boston College, Harvard, Princeton, University of Chicago, Marquette, and Carnegie Mellon, as well as many well-known colleges as close as in the tri-state area and as far away as the west coast and Canada.

A challenging curriculum, a welcoming community, a caring, and dedicated faculty, and the building of life-long friendships are hallmarks of Iona Prep. A rich and varied extracurricular activities program rounds out the Prep experience and truly offers something for everyone at the Prep.

The best way for an 8th grader to experience the Prep is to schedule a day at the Prep (Gael-for-a-Day) with a first-year student and participate in his classes.
