Athens Academy is a beautiful community of teachers, students, parents, mentors, alumni, coaches, and friends dedicated to educating young people. Our mission statement guides us, "Athens Academy seeks excellence with honor in the educational and personal experience of each student." These fifteen words make it clear where we focus our energy. Our primary objective is to engage our students in meaningful work to be better prepared for college and life.
What sets an Athens Academy education apart from all others? Athens Academy is built on four pillars: academics, arts, athletics, and service and leadership. These four pillars and our mission of "excellence with honor in each student's educational and personal experience" are at the core of everything we do, every day. We offer our students a highly talented and dedicated faculty and an innovative curriculum integrated media and technology programs an emphasis on integrity and honor, beginning in the earliest grades a global approach to learning, to prepare them for success in a rapidly-changing world opportunity for service and leadership beginning as early as Preschool and a wide variety of options for creative self-expression through the arts, technology, athletics, and more.
For over 50 years, Athens Academy has been the leader in education in Northeast Georgia. With a focus on EACH child, our faculty prepare our students for that next step in their journey to college and life beyond. Whether you have a Preschooler learning his letters, a Lower Schooler developing her writing skills, a Middle Schooler solving algebraic problems, or an Upper Schooler exploring genetics, Spartan students are guided by expert teachers who help make learning creative and impactful.
As an independent, college preparatory school, Athens Academy is committed to excellence with honor for and from every student, from the youngest Preschooler up through twelfth grade. Our curriculum is designed as a set of building blocks, with each grade building upon the previous year to set every child up for success. Experiential learning, creativity, and exploration are essential parts of the school day, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Faculty work hard to differentiate learning and meet every child's needs, with help from the Learning Resource Center.
As one of Athens Academy's Four Pillars of Learning, visual and performing arts are vital for every student's education. Essential in nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and curiosity, the arts deepen students' understanding and foster an appreciation for other cultures. We strive to cultivate an understanding and love of the arts by providing a positive environment in which the student and teacher can appreciate and explore the creative process together. Athens Academy embraces the belief that all students have the potential to express themselves creatively. The department's goal is to foster and nurture each student as an artist or a performer and give each student the tools to be successful.
