Pennsylvania College of Technology became an affiliate of The Pennsylvania State University in 1989, after establishing a national reputation for education supporting workforce development, first as a technical institute, and later as a community college.
On-campus, apartment-style housing is available, and a wide variety of off-campus housing options in neighborhoods surrounding the campus. The Counseling Services staff all have extensive clinical experience working with college students. Counselors are available to help students resolve personal concerns that interfere with their academic progress, social development, and overall life satisfaction at Penn College.
Short-term individual counseling is offered to help students gain a deeper understanding of the sources of their difficulties. These insights are then translated into plans for action that the student can carry out in his/her daily life. Counselors also provide intervention and support designed to assist students experiencing academic difficulties in collaboration with the academic schools and other support services on campus.
When faculty, staff, or another student expresses concern for a student's well-being, counselors will often attempt to reach the student on campus to assess the severity of symptoms and offer services. Also, counselors work closely with staff from College Health Services and Disability Services to ensure students' continuity of care. Counselors are also available to present to classes, student organizations, and residence hall groups on various topics designed to enhance growth and development. Counselors are also available to visit a classroom or speak to small groups of students when there has been an untimely death of students or staff or other traumatic events.
Earn credits, experience other countries, meet new people, travel overseas, and add to your resume - all while being a Penn College student on a study abroad program! Penn College offers a growing number of study abroad programs. You may choose from short-term, week-long experiences to semester-long programs around the world.

Career Services' relationships with students, employers, and alumni assist students in a successful transition from College to career. We provide job skills programming, job search assistance, on-campus recruiting, and twice-yearly career fairs to bring students and employers together.
Over the last century, the evolution of this institution reflects its commitment to achieving a vision of inspired leadership. It began in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, as a vocational-technical program that gained national acclaim for fighting joblessness during the Great Depression.
It grew into the world-renowned Williamsport Technical Institute, which became the foundation for Williamsport Area Community College – one of the first community colleges in Pennsylvania and the only one dedicated to hands-on technical education.
When challenged by sponsorship requirements within the community college system, the College continued its evolution and growth through a unique affiliation with The Pennsylvania State University, which led to the establishment of Pennsylvania College of Technology in 1989. Now, as a particular mission affiliate of Penn State, Penn College has earned its position as the state's premier technical College and pursues a vision to become known as a national leader in applied technology education.
