EduCativ
Belmont Hill School educates boys in mind, body, and spirit to develop men of good character. Our community encourages and challenges students to discover and pursue passions, seek excellence, and face adversity with resilience. We cultivate critical thinking and creativity, teamwork and competition, hard work and reflection, tradition and innovation. Valuing our differences and working together, we embrace camaraderie, compassion, and service to others. Our school strives to instill in each boy ethical judgment, a sense of common humanity, and a lifelong love of learning. Belmont Hill is blessed with a remarkable campus and exceptional programs to catalyze transformational experiences for our boys. However, it is the people and the relationships formed here that forge the true magic of a Belmont Hill education. We adhere to an unwavering belief in the power of a teacher/coach model where boys are taught and coached by committed faculty who come to know them in multiple learning areas. Boys are challenged, known, and celebrated here. We cherish traditions like family-style lunches and milk and cookies, and yet we offer rigorous and innovative academic experiences like our Advanced Science Research program. While we are proud to work with academically gifted boys from all backgrounds, we are even more proud of the work ethic and values they develop during their Belmont Hill experience. Outside of the classroom, Belmont Hill seeks the same level of excellence. The School enjoys a rich athletic tradition and is inspired by the creativity and individual expression fostered by our arts programs. We currently serve 80 communities as a day school that is augmented by a five-day residential program for approximately 30 boys. We are committed to inclusion and openness, grounded by a belief that empathy and dialogue are essential foundations to learning. All of these beliefs flow from our fundamental commitment to character development as our central purpose. All that we do here ties back to this aim of not merely creating good scholars, good athletes, or good artists: We seek to develop good men. Belmont Hill School’s commitment to diversity is empowered by the synergy of our community. The collective identities and perspectives of our students, faculty, and staff create a unifying force that celebrates, educates, and enriches each member of the Belmont Hill family. We do not define diversity with statistics of students, nor do we attempt to categorize our constituencies to affirm an impression of requirement. Diversity lives within our community it demonstrates the mantra of “working together” that anchors our Mission Statement and invigorates the spirit that makes Belmont Hill an exceptional place for the mind to grow. The bond between community and diversity begins by encouraging the students to realize who they are as individuals. We want each member of our community to understand that the development of a strong sense of self is imperative for the genuine recognition of the cultures, ideas, and conditions that make everyone unique. This process generates a pluralistic dialogue that enables students to become more aware of how each individual is essential to the social and cognitive diversity that enhances the Belmont Hill community.
