Indian School, Al Ghubra is a premier co-educational progressive school providing quality education to the children of the Indian Expatriates in Oman for the last two decades. It follows the curriculum of the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi.
This 20-year milestone is a good time to reflect on a journey that started with a definite vision and firm goal that has taken us to remarkable heights. Leaving behind the initial trials and tribulations, we have steadfastly marched on, coming out all the stronger and wiser. Along the way, we have experienced some exceptional magical moments and created memories that will be fondly remembered in the years ahead.
Our first concern has always been to provide quality education, education with a purpose – to shape the future of our world. Molding young minds into responsible citizens who will steer the world to greater frontiers and into whose care we place ourselves, requires farsightedness, sensitivity, and the right perspective. This is what we have strived to achieve as an institution. Thus academics is not the only purpose of education. Co scholastics is, if not more, equally important.
Any institution has an identity because of the many minds that come together for a common purpose – unique individuals that work as one group. Time and again our teaching faculty, under the leadership of principals and vice-principals, both in the past and the present, have made huge contributions that have brought us to the center stage in the field of education. Our reputation as one of the best is confirmed by the many parents who choose to place their children in our care.
Our students, the ambassadors of our school, have made it to various prestigious institutions around the globe to pursue their higher education and many more doing well in their chosen fields of careers. This is a testimony of the impact we have made in the region. Our school has set a new paradigm in the field of academics and co-curricular activities. Our alumni are well-established across the globe and continue to bring glory to their alma mater with their remarkable achievements.
Education is not merely the acquirement of facts but also of values. Therefore, we, at Indian School Al Ghubra, aim to map academic excellence with a good human value system, which in myriad ways, is ingrained in the culture of the school. Today, as we have reached the coveted silver jubilee of our existence, we pledge to work for every child, and in the process, open new vistas in the area of education. Set up in 1990, our school has traveled through all these years and gained the trust and appreciation of thousands of students and parents alike.
During the past twenty-five years, the institute has created an environment and ambiance that fosters learning as opportunities are provided to the students to explore and grow, through situations that challenge them to identify their strengths and reinforce them. With the smart classrooms and hands-on experience which instills a judicious outlook, the students strive to excel in academics as well as sports.
The participation of our students in the community service programs initiated by Round Square helps our students to meet and share their views with culturally different but like-minded people. Here, at ISG the students aspire to become global citizens and strive for the betterment of the world rather than focusing only on individual progress. We aim to make our students confident human beings by inculcating a set of high values which enables them to develop their moral reasoning ability.
The school has adopted innovative methods of teaching. Smart -Classrooms & Digital Classrooms are used in the School to facilitate the students with Interactive learning. Students are given projects to work on as a group and freely access books as well browse the Internet in the Library. They organize their ideas & thereafter make presentations in class using multi-media projectors. The faculty guides them with various aspects of the presentation.
The Indian School, Al Ghubra, aims to educate its children to have such an understanding that they will give no offense to others while fulfilling the highest ideals of which they are capable. They should appreciate the difference between right and wrong, and be familiar with the accepted social and moral codes of behavior. They should have a most hearty contempt for all the sneak-thief vices, such as cheating, pilfering, tale-bearing, and petty revenge, and have made up their minds that they will be happier telling the truth and suffering than telling lies and going scot-free. They should also have a sensible attitude to dress and appearance. They should be prepared to resist the yoke of superstition and custom, to use their initiative, and to accept discipline, responsibility, and leadership. They should outgrow the fear of unpopularity or maintaining independent opinion. They should have increasing opportunities, as they grow older, to take charge, to organize, to act on their own, and, in consequence, to make mistakes and learn from them.
