It is our pleasure to welcome you to the American Lebanese School website which will give you a window into our world. It reflects the unique character of ALS – we are an American curriculum school, but we maintain strong links with the local community and culture while at the same time being an international community of different nationalities.
The American Lebanese School is a school that not only teaches, but provides security, love, and it gives every child the attention he/she needs to face the world. Our mission at the American Lebanese School is to produce reflective, responsible, independent, and respectful students, who possess strong global citizenship, integrity, and an appreciation for lifelong learning. Through our academic and extra-curricular programs, we strive to provide a challenging quality education based on the American and international curriculum that gives students the ability to reach their full potential, both academically and personally, and to be caring individuals, critical thinkers, and responsible global citizens. The American Lebanese School works in partnership with parents and the local community to achieve this mission.
The heart of our school lies in the dynamic relationship between student and teacher. ALS provides a rigorous program that engages students through inquiry and collaboration. Our dedicated faculty encourages students to think critically, take risks, and be creative. We challenge students to strive for personal and academic excellence, and we treasure the intellectual, social, artistic, and physical development of each student. ALS students are expected to participate actively in their learning and to engage fully in the intellectual life of the School.
We believe that students develop integrity and strength of character by learning to make good choices and by taking responsibility for their actions. We expect ALS students to be kind, honest, and respectful of others. We value a strong work ethic, and we seek to instill in our students a sense of optimism and determination in the face of challenges. Our supportive environment encourages students to develop the courage to act independently and the confidence to pursue leadership opportunities.
Respect for inpidual and cultural differences is a central value of ALS. We celebrate the open exchange of ideas and spirit of inclusiveness that flow from our multicultural community. The active involvement of students, families, faculty, and staff creates the energy and enthusiasm that characterize the ALS
We believe that service to others teaches young people to be productive and effective citizens, and we challenge ALS students to find passion and purpose beyond themselves. ALS offers meaningful opportunities in the classroom and through service learning for students to participate actively in our school, local neighborhoods, and abroad. We seek to inspire the compassion and international awareness necessary for students to contribute responsibly to the global community.
We offer a strong academic program, including the Lebanese Baccalaureate Program (LP) and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IP). Our graduates progress to excellent universities around the world. ALS emphasizes the importance of education being a collaborative exercise, involving the student, the teachers, and the family. We work together with parents in helping each student maximize his or her potential, both academically and socially. We welcome parent involvement in the school and encourage continued communication.
